Where do I begin to try to say something positive? Oh, yes, the soul singer, on a Sunday afternoon had everyone dancing. Big, drab pub. Food limited and cold. Menu isn’t what the web says. Ran out of the wine a friend was dinking, had no bottles of tonic or diet coke and someone was sent out for some and then we were given half a can in a glass! They even ran out of wine glasses. C’mon this is a pub and if well run should run out of nothing. Is it in financial difficulties? Staff were nice so that’s a positive.

Trader Joe’s has been here all this time, but it’s only recently that I’ve noticed it! My friends have taken to watching the football in here, and I must admit I would normally have walked right by it unless I was going to the Theatre Royal across the road. It’s pretty inconspicuous from the outside, and a bit out the way from where I usually meet my friends. It just shows when you shake up your old routine you end up stumbling upon somewhere awesome! Trader Joe’s is a very spacious, lo-fi bar with tons of booths, affordable(but good) booze and sports channels. It’s usually fairly busy but pleasntly so, and rarely feels heaving. The staff are friendly and there’s plenty of room if you’re having a big meet up. What I find most remarkable about Trader Joe’s is its amazing décor. While in some areas of the bar it’s fairly toned down with neutral colours, you turn a corner and bam! — there’s a lovely Glaswegian mural against a vibrant red background. The corridor on the way to the toilet is equally awesome, since it’s covered in colourful graffitti art. With its laid back atmosphere and the lack of pretentiousness, I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to realise how cool Trader Joe’s is.

I’m not sure why, but the name«Trader Joe’s», made me think of pirates and the seven seas. I imagined making a trip here, pockets laden with pieces of eight, to buy a rusty cutlass and a barrel of rum. Unfortunately, rather than a useful stopover on a journey to plunder treasures the likes of which ye have never seen, it’s just a slightly above average pub. Nothing special, but unpretentious and with a bit of character about it.

Well colour me surprised. I’ve walked by this place on so many occasions that i cant even begin to count, but have until today never set foot inside and to be honest, had written it off as a fancy Dan joint for TV type people from the nearby STV(until recently) offices… wrong. Its a fricken student joint, of if it ain’t it bloody well should be. I wish i had known about this place when i was at Uni, pool table, dart board, big tellies for football, cool poker computery game thing, cheap food, cheap booze and acres of sprawling space where you can and probably will loose a day just lazing, eating and, lets not forget, drinking. Oh and i almost forgot, its got free wifi!!! my favourite. Check it out!

I first noticed Trader Joe’s presence about a year ago, when I first ate at Café Hula next door. I didn’t venture inside but did notice that it looked different than most of Glasgow city centre bars. Well, I finally ventured in there last night and found I absolutely love it! Very rustic and cool, with a bit of an American saloon feel to it. Everything is wooden and they have some really comfy leather couches and stools. Our group crammed ourselves into a section behind the bar and a friendly member of bar staff came to collect our glasses frequently. They have a couple of pool tables and big TVs, so it seems like a good place to relax and grab a pint in the afternoon. They also serve food, which I can’t yet comment on but will probably try it out in the near future! I really enjoyed being here form the moment I walked in, seems like a cool, chilled-out bar. Will definitely return and try the food and cocktails!

the local watering hole for all those RSAMD typesa nice wee bar, complete with the pool tables, open mic, and stand-up comedy nights, that students crave so much. worth a look, and it won’t leave your wallet empty after you’ve sunk a few pints. with that said, i’ve not stuck my head through the door in a while — maybe everything’s gone to heck in a hand-basket, but i doubt it. some things don’t change

This place is great to go to, to catch up with your mates and have a good gab. It is really big and spacious and is where i usually start my nites out for a chat and a couple of reasonably priced drinks . I also used to go here a lot when i was a student
