Two Fat Ladies provides a dining experience of excellence in every way! I’ve lived mere moments away from this gem for 6 months and won’t take its presence for granted again! The décor is so opulent and under the sea themed– like the Little Mermaid meets The Water Babies! The service is really friendly and non-intrusive as well as being super efficient. The pre-theatre is available until 7pm– among the latest cut offs I’ve come across and at £15.95 for 2 courses and £17.95 for 3 it’s an absolute bargain for food of this quality. While we waited for our starters we were offered(and accepted!) complimentary bread and dipping oil and vinegar, and were offered and accepted seconds! For starter I had a beautiful Camembert filo parcel with lovely salad. This was melt in the mouth tasty and a surprisingly very large portion. This restaurant is renowned for fish so I ordered that for my main course– the fish of the day was sea bream with dauphinois with potatoes and tomato salsa served with vegetables. It really was jaw-droppingly good. Everything was perfectly cooked and the quality of the ingredients made this a meal to remember. We ordered a grand sharing platter of desserts from the a la Carte menu and were delighted to tuck in to all 4 full size desserts from the menu– Nutella cheese cake, sherry trifle, sticky toffee pudding and 3 ice creams from a selection(we went with Mint choc chip, vanilla and Dime bar). All 4 in my party have big appetites and couldn’t finish! The tea was served in beautiful silverware — it’s worth mentioning that the cutlery and crockery throughout the meal was a joy to use. We also got a whole plate of tablet left on the table. Really generous dining with copious amounts of food in generous surroundings. Excellent value for money– I can’t wait to return.

Excellent food — Linda looked after us and was perfect for the role. Friendly funny and well informed about the menu. Small restaurant which was perfect for myself and guests.

My mum was visiting earlier this month and she took Mr. M and me out to Two Fat Ladies for a special(if belated) anniversary dinner. My goodness, it was to die for. Fergus had some lovely fishy dish in paper and my mum had a steak. I ordered the fish trio because I couldn’t make up my mind and it proved to be heavenly. At the end of our meal, we were given a lovely plate of tablet that said«Happy Anniversary» on it — nice move, TFL!!! Great service, intimate setting, an all-around win. The only tiny caveat I would add is that while the original Two Fat Ladies on Dumbarton Road gets five stars from me, Two Fat Ladies at the Buttery gets six. It’s hard to fall in love like that twice… because I do love the Buttery in that way. But the bottom line is that Two Fat Ladies is simply fabulous.

Fish. Where would one be without it? I ADORE fish and I am in love with this restaurent. I have to admit, the first time I popped into this idillic little place for a bite to eat I had a look at the menu I thought to myself, «ouch, this is maybe a little bit pricey», but let me tell you! Once I had finished my meal and stopped salavating, I would have paid double… even triple(If I’d had one more glass of wine). The food is outstanding. The wonderful fresh food and a wide variety on the menu is really worth it’s weight in gold right down too silver service and polite and caring waiting staff who couldn’t do enough too assist you. I find this one slightly superior to its sister one in the city centre, only because the décor and ambience are right up my street. I’ve written so many love letters to this place, and if it were human I would ask for its hand in marriage.

My favourite fish restaurant in Glasgow and one of the city’s many really tiny restaurants… so small that you walk in through the open kitchen by the front window, where you can see the fresh local fish being prepared. Obviously it pays to book in advance to enjoy a meal here. I can highly recommend the dessert taster menu — it’s worth the extra expense as every dish is amazing, you just need to save enough room for it!

I went to Two Fat Ladies for lunch on a traditionally dreary Glasgow Saturday. We took advantage of their lunchtime offer of 3 courses + wine for £15.95 which, given a main course a la carte is about this price(and worth every penny), is fantastic value. After being greeted and seated by the waitress I ordered smoked mackerel pâté with Arran oat cakes, but struggled with the choice between this and bloody Mary soup. The pâté had recognisable fish in it, tasted fantastic and was accompanied by sufficient oat cakes to eat all of it. So often in restaurants you have to heap the pâté on such that you might as well just eat it with a spoon but not here. I followed this with sea bass with Arbroath smokie potato cakes and mornay sauce which was served with loads of vegetables to share with the rest of the table. The fish was cooked to perfection, as you would expect from a seafood restaurant. I ordered ice cream roulade for dessert which incited envy in the rest of the party even though their sticky toffee puddings and cheeses were also excellent. The wine was a good quality house white(we had an extra glass each) and we finished with a round of espressos, and teas. By the time we left the restaurant had filled up with other diners but the excellent, friendly waitress was more than capable of handling the numbers. Just brilliant

Yum! Came to Europe on holiday with my family and my sister found this place and insisted we go(because we used to love the cooking show ‘Two Fat Ladies’ — but note that the two are not affiliated). The restaurant was small but cute and we’d made a reservation so although it was crowded, we were seated right away. We started with a tomato soup(great) and a fig tartlet with goat cheese(amazing). The three of us then shared a fish dish(can’t remember what kind, but it was good), scallops(really yummy) and prawns(SOGOOD!). The seafood was really fresh and delicious(and what they are known for). We also got a good kick out of one of the appetizers, «cullen skink,» because we were being immature and it sounded funny.

I’ve walked pass the restaraunt many times and was always interested, but didn’t go until yet another friend recommended it, and I’m so glad we went. My partner and I both got the scallops on haggis to start and it was beautiful. The scallops were huge and juicy. The haggis was served underneath with whisky cream sauce drizzled on the place. There was just enough of a hint of mustard through the sauce that brought all the flavours together nicely. For our main, we each had a fish dish and both of our fish were cooked to perfection. What looked like a moderate serving left us feeling completely full but because the food was so light and flavoursome, we still had room for pudding. The chocolate cake with marscapone we shared was also lovely and was big enough to comfortably share. The service was excellent with the servers checking to make sure everything was all right, but not crowding you at all. Although the restaraunt was very small, it felt cosy and intimate rather than crowded. I would definitely recommend it for a special meal.

I went here with my sister and her roommate in April, and it was some of the freshest, tastiest seafood I’ve ever had. The service was attentive, and the wine list reasonably priced. The restaurant was small, maybe 10 tables? Make sure to make reservations at least a day in advance, and to confirm the location — I think they have 3 – 4 restaurants in town, and we showed up at the wrong one. The staff were helpful and called the other location to save our spot.

I came here for my 21st for an impromptu lunch with my parents and boyfriend; it was completely dead at about 3 in the afternoon, but the small size and cosiness of the place meant we avoided the awkward ‘only customers in the restaurant’ feeling that I so despise! Further awkwardness was also avoided by the excellent quality of the food, which provided delightful distraction and even a bit of gastronomic bonding time for my Dad and boyfriend — for it was their first meeting. But then I’ve yet to meet a man who wouldn’t bond over enjoyment in stuffing their face… The staff struck that perfect balance between being attentive and polite whilst leaving us be to relax, and the décor was dressy but not too overboard. Definitely worth a visit for any gastronome — given that it’s won awards is indication of that enough — though bear in mind it books up hella early — I’ve tried to get a booking at the place so evenings now and failed before eventually resorting to the early afternoon for lunch. Luckily there’s another in town though, so there’s always another option if you’re desperate!

I actually got engaged after my fiancée and I had dinner at Two Fat Ladies. My fiancée and I stayed in the West End of Glasgow back in December of 2007. We ate at Two Fat Ladies on a Tuesday night. I had a fish entrée which was delicious. What I remember most about dinner was the Sticky Toffee Pudding. It was the first time I have ever had Sticky Toffee Pudding and it was so moist and sweet. I crave their pudding to this day! The ambiance of the restaurant is very romantic with the candlelit dinner, booth and table accommodations, from what I remember. The kitchen is near the front door and it’s a small station. You can see the chef cooking in front of the window. I loved their after dinner dark chocolates. Each were individually wrapped in the 88 Two Fat Ladies logo. Two Fat Ladies will always hold a special place in my heart.
