Whistles

Bravo Jane Shepherdson! This retailing genius who is responsible for the success of Topshop, has completely turned Whistles around! I used to always think of this store as somewhere my mum would go to get an outfit for a wedding or a job interview or something like that. Not anymore!
A couple of years ago I remember reading in Elle magazine that Jane was taking over at Whistles and waited with baited breath to see what she would come up with. Now Whistles is fashion forward, edgy and cool but in a, oh I’m just naturally this stylish, I don’t even have to try, kind of way. Which is great because we all know, trying too hard is the biggest fashion crime of all!
The clothes are more expensive than your other high street retailers but you really do get what you pay for at Whistles. I think too many people have forgotten that it was Whistles who launched John Galliano, who is now designing some of the most magnificent collections Dior has had in years! Most recently Whistles stocked a fantastic collection of dresses by Roksanda Ilinci. They were stunningly unusual and the perfect antidote to seeing the same style of dresses in every other high street retailer. I am delighted to hear that Roksanda will be doing another collection for Whistles which is due in store in April!

Whistles is yet another example of a fabulous high-​end fashion store in the beautiful surroundings that is the Prince’s Square shopping centre. I tell you, sometimes I lose a whole day in there just gazing at all the things I’d buy if I had a sudden windfall (come on, a girl can hope…).
Whistles is a store grouped with Reiss and Jigsaw (both of which can be found in the nearby vicinity) but I think their clothing is younger, and edgier. This is a good thing! Again, it might be a little bit pricey for most of us to stock up on essentials here, but if you’re looking for something special, or if you’re really good at bagging a bargain in a sale, then don’t let this place pass by your radar.
The shopping experience in here (as it is in just about all of Prince’s Square) is wonderful — and the level of service you’ll receive is infinity better that just about any other high street store.
So, erm, what are you waiting for? (Oh, that windfall…)

Whistles is a sophisticated, designer leading store aimed at those either on a very good salary or those addicted to all things designer. A lovely looking shop and the staff are always more than obliging with any queries.
Prices are high and generally I only venture into this shop for very special occasions.
A luxury to browse in.
