Curly Cornet isn’t exactly gourmet but it serves up some basics with style. This café is a favourite haunt for bus drivers on their breaks and families trying to keep their little ones entertained. There are big teddy bears of Kermit the frog and Bob the builder plus a kind of jaunty, colourful interior. Only a few tables here, for Curly Cornet’s select eating in customers. Otherwise people just run in, get their ice cream and go. The menu is basically toasties here– ham and cheese toastie, tuna and cheese toastie, you get the picture. But it is cheap, my toastie was nice — I declined ice cream, it was far to cold. This is Manchester, well Derbyshire, lets not forget. The staff at this place are so friendly. I’m sure it didn’t hurt that some of my family stop in regularly but when the lady behind the counter heard that I was jumping on the train to Piccadilly later she told me all about the Hadfield, Dinting, which way around does the train travel mess. So sweet and helpful which meant there is a really nice camaraderie about the place. If Cheers were an ice cream and toastie shop…
