In January we took the QM2 out of Southampton. We took the opportunity to see dear friands in Gosport. They took us to this lovely local pub. The atmosphere is great, the patrons friendly. And the food was delicious. Being a foodie I’m always a little wary of «British Food». I was pleasantly surprised. I had lamb which was tender and fell off the bone. Jack had goose which was also very good. One of our friends had the«gammon». It’s essentially a ham steak. It, too, had great flavor. We were all very impressed. I definitely would return when back in the area!

A had a really good time last night, Burns Night! Started with a piper, then there was 2 nearer the end of the night. Food was lovely, haggis was yum. Must admit knew a couple of people, but others were so friendly, it made the night too. Will just say the kilt wearing men were traditional!

Eight of us dropped into this pub on Saturday for lunch. We had not booked but a table was made up for us. The service is quick and the menu very good. When the food came there were generous portions and the quality was much higher than most pubs. Gosport is a town that is a desert when it comes to finding good places to eat out, so the Jolly Rodger stands out. I can recommend the Red Snapper. My fellow diners also liked the Portuguese steak and the Pork. We had two young children with us and they were well catered for. We were also impressed with the deserts, prepared in the Jolly Rodger kitchen rather than bought ready made.
