Forget the classic Lakeland honey pots of Keswick, Ambleside and Windermere and head south to Cartmel for a real taste of Cumbria. The village possess an amazing variety of pubs, restaurants including the Michelin star L’Enclume, as well as being the home of the original Sticky Toffee Pudding. Also, if this was not enough every third Friday of the month there is a food fare in the main street. But above all be sure that you don’t miss Cartmel Cheeses! Tucked away in a new development, Unsworth’s Yard, just off the village’s main street and close to the Priory it is well worth the effort to search out with an amazing range of artisan cheeses including Stinking Bishop, Stavley, Ragstone, Jura, Longres, Adrahan, Baltic, Innes Ash and many, many more. Combined with a knowledgeable and helpful staff who are always ready to offer samples before you buy and unlike many other cheese shops it doesn’t smell its bound to be a favourite. See also
