Been Fishing Ardgowan for sometime now and would say its my favourite loch. I feel the fishing is great with the fish in the loch being so healthy and put up a great fight. I feel its great for the money you pay and thats what everybody wants. The café is a very welcoming atmoshpere and you also have a variety of foods and drinks for great prices too. WELLDONEROBERT, Keep the good work up

i was at ardgowan fishery today, i had a great morning turning 20 + fish, lost one of 9 lbs after a 5 minute fight and ended up with my 3 fish weighing 13 lbs. i was fly fishing from a boat, the boats are in fine working order and its great to get to those hard to reach spots, i was at first using a horned sedge on the surface which turned about 8 fish before i realised the hook was broke :(. after that i gave a mudler a try with great success, around the fishery i seen no or very little rubbish and as mentioned there are plenty of bins around. the café was very clean and tidy with good food available at very good prices. the owner told me about these reviews so i thought i would give my 2 cents, sounds like the guy who wrote the review before me had a bad day and decided to make a big deal of it, he also pointed out he has unquestionable local knowledge, i would like to point out that never in the 17 years the fishery has been open has an eel been caught. sound like the guy has no idea what hes on about and is trying to put this really good place down for no reason other than he had a bad day. maybe your client should choose better guides next time.

I’m not the best person to review this as a place to fish(so hopefully someone else will) but I have visited the café there and found it to be a very pleasant and nice place to have a lovely cup of tea and hot snack! It’s also friendlier than the nearby Cornalees café(at least, it was on the one occasion I was there). Fishing apart, this is a great place to start a walk around one of the reservoirs in the area or along the Greenock Cut.
