Unbelievably good food served here. The pie was the best we’ve ever had and the bacon cheeseburger was amazing.

Great selection of drinks and freshly cooked food that is delicious and reasonably priced! I wouldn’t recommend staying sitting on the first floor as the second floor has much better ambiance.

Great selection of real ales. Cosy two floor dark wood atmosphere pub with a good selection of freshly cooked food that is delicious and reasonably priced. Loved the beef pie and garlic mozzarella bread. Staff is freidndly and attentive. Love this pub.

Started the night at Three Pigeons, had a few pints of Staropramen(£4/pint) alternating rounds with a friend. Huge fan of this type of pub. Dark wood décor, dim lighting but lit well enough for intimate conversation. Seating limited, but good place for groups or a two-some. Gorgeous old banister+staircase leading to second floor — wide enough for staggering customers — no spills = success! Speedy service downstairs, and although there were taps upstairs, you’d have to time it right as the barman was back and forth with dishes(not a problem, he was doing his job I suppose). Another bonus and something I haven’t found much — COOKIESFOR40p! They looked yummy, possible sugar or white chocolate chip. Anyway, I saved room for the pints to come. Also, not too loud — didn’t have to shout back and forth — and very mellow but fun crowd of all ages. If I end up in Guildford again, I’ll pay this place another visit. :) X

The Hopback summer ale was alright, but the barmaid who served it to us was clearly in a foul mood! Probably my least favourite of the pubs I have seen in Guildford so farcertainly in terms of location. Still a safe bet for a decent pint though I is Nicholsons.

Stopped in here to meet up with a friend and have a couple of drinks. Nice little watering hole with good selection of beers. Has a good ‘feel’ to it and fits perfectly in historic Guildford. Right at the top of the high street so ideal stop for a breather after working your way up to through the shops and then perhaps on to one of the many restaurants a bit further up?

Hooray — it’s called The Three Pigeons again! It changed hands a couple of years back when it was renamed The Farriers. OK, it was a farriers in the past but was never called that, AFAIK. This pub covers two floors with a steel railed spiral staircase connecting them. I wanted to have a drink one evening & a bar snack but there wasn’t any seating available downstairs in the main bar area but they wouldn’t allow us to sit upstairs — that was for dining only! We walked. I guess some pubs have split personalities in that they pretend to be more than they are. I didn’t make too much of a scene but they did show more flexibility during my next visit so I suppose they realised that having drinkers upstairs was better than having no one upstairs! That’s the negatives out of the way. The Three Pigeons is situated near the top of the cobbled part of the High St & is a beautiful building both inside & out. The 1st floor full-width bay window is particularly fine. There are two front doors at both end of the frontage that effectively face each other. Behind the right-hand door is the staircase. Along the left wall lies the bar at the front. The rest of the downstairs seating area is quite deep & leads to a small patio, toilets & rear stairs to the 1st floor. If you want to use the men’s, try not to break you neck when you descend! The seating is around substantial high tables with stools — a long way to the floor! However, if you do end up horizontal, you can at least admire the beautiful ceiling! This seating area has wood panelling with many old photos of Guildford’s past that enhances the convivial atmosphere. The beers are well kept & I often start of with a pint of T. Taylor’s Landlord that seems to be a regular. Two or three other beers are usually available. The bar snacks are not that cheap but are better than average. Upstairs has a small bar, the same high tables near the front by that fab window & more traditional seating further back. There’s a rather nice snug as well. i did hear from a local man that some residents from Abbots Hospital got a little worse for wear one night & couldn’t get back home through the hospital’s vault-like door so smashed their way through it! This may explain why the door was refurbished or might just be pack of untruths! worth a visit.

I looooooooooooove the three pigeons :) It’s a lovely old pub, in a building with enough history to have the loos out the back(strangely still«in» the building, but almost not!), sat atop Guildford high street. The best time to go would be a weekend morning to enjoy the delicious food with the sunshine coming in through the big glass windows and making rainbows with the crystals on the chandeliers. It’s a lovely place to eat. Prices are similar to other pubs and even chains, and where the fare is slightly more expensive, it’s definitely worth the difference in flavour and quality. I would recommend trying the sausages. They have a different variety depending on the day, and even though I didn’t have any, my companions who did, loved them. As for the décor, just look at the picture. Beautiful wood, chandeliers, and burgundy walls. I’m sold. Missing my corset and veil, but with that food, I wouldn’t be able to keep either of them on for long! After hearing a lot about the place we finally went for the first time this past weekend. Now we’re looking forward to going again soon, just for the yummy food!
