The Royal Oak is a popular destination for those who live relatively close, without attracting people from all over. Despite this, the Royal Oak houses a fairly large number of people, especially on the weekend, Friday through til Sunday. A standard British pub, the Royal Oak offers a range of food deals, reminiscent of English pub grub as opposed to Gastro dining. Daytime deals include the opportunity to buy any one meal for £5.50 and then another for just £1. Throughout the week, the pub is often fairly quiet before coming to life during mid week evenings and then the weekend. The service at the Royal Oak is friendly, welcoming and overall very pleasant. These factors alongside the old fashioned pub vibe that oozes from the pub make it worth a visit, especially on a Friday or Saturday night.

The Royal Oakl likes to present itself as a classy place where it is expected that people wear shirts and trousers rather than the jeans of an average pub and they also have strict limits on ages within this pub and they used to have a policy of only serving people over the age of 21(although I’m not sure if this is still the case). Despite this it is still a nice relaxed place to go and have a drink with friends and the food is good. The surroundings are a high standard but like you’d expect with a place like this the prices are a bit steep compared to other local pubs. So if you fancy a smart evening out with a glass of wine this could be the place for you but not if you just want a relaxing pint in your local.
