I am always a fan of traditional toy shops and this one did not disappoint! For such a small shop it has a huge selection of branded children’s toys — Perfect for Birthdays & Christmas! I really enjoyed having a look around this wonderful shop and I did buy a couple of Christmas Presents. It is expensive compared to some other shops(and especially online prices) but surely it is worth that little bit extra in price to have the experience of going to the shop and choosing the toy playing with it first and getting excited!!! This shop also has some bits and bobs upstairs for hobbyists and enthusiasts who like to paint models or create train sets. They have a modest size selection of Hornby trains and Air fix models(mostly planes) — I couldn’t resist buying an A10 for my father in law!(yes I’m a geek too!) One thing I will mention about this shop which is why it doesn’t have a 5 star rating is that it is no good for people with prams or wheelchairs as half of the shop is upstairs. Other than that I just wish it was bigger :)

In the building that used to be Nicholl and Browns. I believe it has been a beatties in the past. Generally well laid out when viewed from the outside. This continues inside but is let down by the amount freestanding displays that hinder movement on the ground floor. One visit was made on a day when they had just had a delivery. Despite this the staff seemed more than willing to help someone enquiring about something. They appear to have a «ready list» of where you can get items that they do not stock. Items that Nicholl & Brown once sold. Upstairs is well laid out, but one member of staff would crack his face if he were to smile. They do however seem to know what they are talking about. The same member of staff who’d «crack his face» is willing to help if you have a question on either trains, cars or plastic kits. A question by one customer got him bringing a large folder out of a cupboard. It turned out that parts were required & the folder contained the details. Many people coming in seem to know the staff by their first names & some will even ask to speak to them about their needs. Will help in locating the item if what you want is not instore. Even going so far as to ring you to let you know the item has arrived. One way of keeping the customer. Given that there are five floors to the premises it seems understaffed.

A traditional toy shop selling only branded items such as Thomas, Fisher Price, Barbie etc so find it over priced compared to Woolworths, Argos etc. Wide range to choose from but quite a small shop so often find it hard with pushchair. There is an upstairs also but always unable to get up as no lift facility and have pushchair with child in. Staff are helpful and very knowledgeable about their products and can order items in if out of stock. Have different weekly offers so a few toys half price, worth popping in for these for gifts etc.

The only proper toyshop left in Halifax is this one. There is an excellent selection of toys for children of all ages and both sexes. The shop also has a wide stock of hornby model railways products and scalelextric cars. The prices aren’t the cheapest in town when compared to Argos of woolies, but the range is far larger than either of these can offer.
