They have good breakfast, cakes, and coffee. The customer service is good(but a little slow). I will say their breakfast is much better than their lunch. I’m not a fan of their pizza.

Lovely little café in town centre. Nothing pretentious about it. Had a beautifully aromatic coffee, full of flavour. Has about 8 tables and a few high stools at a bar. Top job.

The best thing about Café Gusto is that it is local and independent, and not a characterless chain. I am a regular, so my review is based on multiple positive visits, and therefore consistency is a big plus for the place as well. The coffee is very good and not too expensive. Let them know just how you like your drink and they will accommodate. Every drink is served with a little Amaretto biscuit, while not a big deal, it’s the little touches that add up. To be honest, breakfast overall is not as good as the lunch menu, but they do bake their breads fresh every day, so get a bacon sandwich on a fresh, crusty on the outside, slightly doughy on the inside, baguette, very nice. Dishes with eggs and lots of muffins and other pastries too. Lunch is a welcome departure from the typical British café sandwich fillings, with very tasty Italian classics, including fresh pasta dishes, pizzas, grilled flatbread foldovers and grilled paninis. Then top it all off with a slice of one of their wonderful cakes or tarts. Always spoilt for choice.

I hate to write a bad review but Gusto was such a disappointment. We stopped in around 9am on a Saturday, asked for 1tea, 1latte and a scrambled egg on bread to go. The tea was weak, and I kid you not the latte did not have espresso in it. I am not sure if he forgot but the guy behind the counter was not a morning person, not rude but not particularly friendly. Finally the scrabbled egg on bread smelled terrible, runny and then we caught our train we found we had no forks. Which honestly it didn’t smell right so it was best we binned it. Will I try here again maybe outsidebof morning hours(even though coffee is something any morning should not go without) yes just to see if maybe it was a bad day with bad service, however I will never brave breakfast again.

Café Gusto is a cosy little coffee shop up a little side street near the Royal Orchid. I’d often wandered past thinking how lovely it looked, before going inside one sunny Saturday morning for a coffee and breakfast. The coffee was delicious and I could have eaten the creamy scrambled eggs twice over. The deep leather couches next to the front window were perfect for catching those early morning rays and Italian deli fare lined the one wall of the café. Would definitely recommend it!
