An intimate and beautiful theatre in the centre of the town. Seats are comfortable and the box office was efficient. Do go and see a show here if you are in the area.

A horse, a horse. My kingdom for a horse. That sounds like a fair swap to me but there again my kingdom probably consists of empty wine bottles, a few classy furniture pieces and some mouldy socks. I’ll take a Cheltenham winner for that any day. Or if I’m not to take it so literally it just means that it’s time for the theatre. Harrogate Theatre has got some serious history too. It opened in 1900 and has obviously gone through various closures and refurbishments since then. It still oozes a lavish and deluxe feel to it though. It’s a super auditorium and attracts some stellar plays and performances. It’s especially good for attracting superb comedy and sean Lock, Rory Bremner and Katy Brand are all visiting in the upcoming months. If that doesn’t impress you then check out who have trod the boards in the past; Trevor Howard, Charlie Chaplin, Sarah Bernhardt, Arnold Ridley, Brian Murphy, Kate O’Mara, Martin Shaw, John Noakes and Ben Kingsley. Now if that doesn’t impress you much, you must be Shania Twain. You don’t always need to look at the obvious attraction of the West Yorkshire Playhouse, go explore a little and get to Harrogate Theatre.

A really beautiful theater. I went here to the the pantomime while visiting my sister in law’s family. We all had such a great time. The theater is small and cozy and very ornately decorated. It was just the right size for the fantastic panto. I will definitely go back next time I am in town.

This place brings a bit of culture to Harrogate. While it’s small, it’s intimate, and the staff are approachable and helpful. The interior is suitably baroque, and you almost feel transported back in time when you’re here. I have fond memories of seeing shows here as a small child with my parents.

A lovely olde worldy theatre which is in an ongoing restoration programme. The areas that have been restored are wonderful and have been sympathetically done. The staff in the booking office are incredibly friendly and helpful, whether face to face, or by telephone. For a small theatre they get some very good acts, we have recently seen some great comediens and have already booked to see Ed Byrne next March 2009. The Hyena club is well worth joining as you get to see up and coming comediens and the less well known for only 10 per head, there are also discounts for booking three shows or more and of course concessions. All sorts of shows to suit all tastes. Bar area upstairs serving pump and bottled beers, spirits and wine. Yet to be refurbished but good staff and great atmosphere. Easy parking around the Theatre and free at night. Plenty of great Restaurants and take aways nearby as well.

Harrogate Theatre is a lovely old building which has recently been restored in recent years, but has still retained its lovely Victorian(?) features. The theatre hosts a variety of shows, including performences by well known comedians, both professional and amateur dramatic companies, as well as putting on its own productions twice a year, one of which is its well known and well reviewed pantomime. All in all, the theatre is a lovely building, and is definitely worth a trip, just for a look at its beautiful décor alone.
