Excellent service. Martini had olive juice added(dirty as we Yanks call it) but it must have been a communication problem. I’d asked for the martini«up with olives». Oysters were sweet but seemed like salted water had been added to the oyster liquor. Salmon appetizer was fabulous. Best salmon around. Creamy and perfectly Seahawks with a tad o dill. Sticky toffee pudding was excellent!

I came in here last night for a bite to eat whilst at a conference. I was eating solo(ah the joys of work travel) but they were very accommodating and didn’t give me the ‘what’s this weirdo doing eating alone?’ look. Result. The staff here are friendly and it was quite busy for a Sunday night. A good atmosphere. I had the Beetroot ricotta salad starter, which was tasty. The risotto main(pictured) was good although maybe a little overseasoned so that by the time I finished it, I was a little overpowered by the flavours. It was well cooked and looked nice though. Pinot Grigio White was good also. I was staying around the corner and swiftly realised I had left my wallet behind. I explained to the waitress and went off to get it(leaving my kindle and phone as hostages). She was very accommodating about it. I like it here. One of the smarter options in town and it sure beats the chain restaurants ;)

Great menu, the food was delicious and the dessert I had — a cocktail flavoured like a gingerbread cheesecake — was sublime. However at 8pm on a Saturday night, the music was cranked up waaaaay too loud, meaning our table(a party of 9) could only converse with the people sitting next to us. Still, great food(if a little pricey) and good service.

As chains go restaurant bar and grill is pretty damn reliably tasty, with a varied menu and a pretty wicked wine menu. A group of friends and I were off to a new bar opening so jumped on the train to Harrogate, from leeds the train is about a fiver so why not try that out for a change… We chose to take a Magnum of Vintage Rose champagne for the train, Wine not! We had booked a table and were seated straight away and introduced to our server for the night,(- a really nice touch that gets missed in many places) I jumped straight into the wine menu and ordered A bottle of Viognier(white) and a Bottle of Malbec(red) there were seven of us and we weren’t playing games… Really tasty wines at around £25 each a bottle… Some bread arrived with a nice little peppery style dip which was really tasty, just a nice little pre-starter to get the stomach juices going… We ordered 2 Asian tasting plates between us and we had a celiac with us(there’s always one trouble causer isnt there…) so he ordered some moules, to be honest after letting the waiter know he was straight onto recommending dishes which was great, also telling us that because everything is made fresh we could pick and choose from the menu to build something together — either way very helpful! :) By this stage we had necked the 1st bottle of white so decided to order another bottle keeping the red for the mains — we’d basically all plumbed for the steak frites and it seemed to be a wise choice… Our starters arrived and they were really good, pretty much as expected from the title of an asian tasting plate… Give it a go! Maybe 10 – 15 mins after finishing our starters our mains were presented and we were Malbec bound, — Malbec and steak… NOM! I’s ordered my steak rare, it served medium so a little disappointing but the chips made up for it. Again, we needed a second bottle of red… no surprise there then, if you knew any of the people at the table you’d have expected no less… After all that food and wine, and with a party to get to we opted for a swift caffeine based fix to get us back on fighting form — the coffee was illy which i’ve never really been a fan of but it did its job. A really decent feed, great wine and exemplary service, We paid £50 a head but with that we did have £100 on wine on the bill… So it was a little pricey but we didn’t at all feel stitched. If you find yourself in harrogate and looking for somewhere to get your feed on why not give it a go!
