Friars Oak is pub that offers great food and a nice atmosphere to have a drink and/or have dinner. Staff were friendly and also attentive which was helpful with our party of six. Few friends ordered the pies and I had the burger. None of us had any complaints about the food at all. The puddings were also delicious! We chose the ultimate tower brownie which considered of a cookie base under a warm brownie with vanilla ice cram. Very tasty. Would stop in again when in the area!

Pub is nice but typical large chain gastro wanna be outfit good selections of drinks. Food is standard pub fare and priced well cooked mostly by the microwave technicians. Nothing really bad just a pub version of McDonalds in my opinion

Lovely English food and a fantastic environment. The Lamb Shank and any of the pies are firm favourites. Always busy here particularly in summer when the large garden is open. Highly recommended.

I came here once to meet a golfing friend off the course for a post-put-pint or two. What a wonderful example of a charming British public house that has all the elements of just that — a warm and welcoming home from home. Although I came here in the spring I’d much prefer to find respite by the fireside on a freezing winter day, this place is made for it with its high backed Chesterfields and log fires. There’s a massive wine list, great draft beers and real ales like Spitfire and Timothy Taylor and a heart-warming selection of food from Shepard’s Pie, Steak and Guinness and Ploughman’s. I was pretty hungry the afternoon I visited, and had a very filling Bacon and Brie melt with chips and salad for just £4.95.

This is the sort of pub you can walk into and the crackle of the fire is louder than the customers conversation sometimes. This is a very warm pub! I can’t think of another pub with such a lovely atmosphere in Sussex. The décor is really classy and and comfortable beyond belief. The staff fit the pub like a glove; really down to earth and friendly. I popped in last week on my own purely as I was freezing(and thirsty) and the barmaid was quite happy to chat away without being intrusive. Food wise, the Pork and Aspall Cider stew looked and smelled fantastic when I saw it go out and there’s plenty of other home cooked, locally sourced choices on the menu. The Harvey’s here was excellent too, I could have stayed all day long!
