Has dinner the other night. The food and service were both great. I had the Boef Bougainoian and my husband had the Croque Mushroom. The Apple tart for dessert was fantastic.

We had a great breakfast on a Sunday morning, very friendly staff and good value for money.

Located on the same street as Pizza Express and Zizzi, Café Rouge is another eaterie that seems incredibly popular with locals and vistors. There’s half a dozen tables outside so you can eat alfresco in the summer and lots more tables inside to cater for large parties all year round. Like other branches, the décor is warm and uplifting with cosy tables and chairs, painted and illustrated walls and waiting staff whizzing around in sparkling white aprons. As for the menu, you can choose between light snacks, starters, hearty main courses and delightful puddings. The first two includes French classics like onion soup, croque monseiur and croque madame and the mains includes steak, beef casserole, roasted chicken and crispy duck confit. I always plan to try something new but usually opt for salmon fish cakes with french fries and lime mayo. The coffee and wine are usually great too but I can’t get enough of Café Rouge’s lemonade where you add your own water and sugar syrup.
