Nice atmosphere in here, we actually went here on NYE. The camel adds to the atmosphere, the only gripe I have is that the prices are a little steep, but I guess that is what you get when you want the location.

Can be pricy and packed at times, but this is a nice, cozy spot for a drink or an occasional lunch or dinner, particularly if you can snag a seat outside or near the fireplace. We enjoyed the traditional dishes — bangers and mash, steak and ale pie, etc., the most. We once both left a soup — which tasted like washing liquid — untouched. We didn’t complain, but the server noticed and the price was refunded immediately.

nice looking pub, gets busy and can sometimes be a bit of a chore getting a table downstairs in the bar area if you just want a drink and a snack. there is an outdoor seating area adjacent to the canal which soon fills up whenever the sun is out. the food here is good, the menu offers quite a bit of choice. I recently ate here on a Saturday lunchtime, around midday. Didn’t have a problem finding a table but it was filling up by the time we left. the staff were friendly and helpful, we didnt have to wait too long for our food and we both enjoyed it.

Located between Hemel Hempstead and Kings Langley opposite the train station is Fuller’s traditional pub«The Paper Mill» right on the Grand Union Canal next to Apsley Lock bridge in Hertfordshire. Looking for a good place for lunch while at Hemel Hempstead’s Snow Centre for my grandson’s weekend ski-ing lessons, we googled for the nearest pub and let the GPS lead us to the place. Turned out to be a tastefully refurbished pub with old world charm, great atmosphere, pleasant ambiance and lovely views. We arrived at 12-noon — just the right restaurant opening time here. Good nourishing pub food, attractively served, even though a little bland on the palate — the gravy was disappointing — but then most British food is so! One missed the expected taste of a perfect Sunday roast. The pub restaurant upstairs is very child-friendly(we had four in our group); the staff quite helpful, friendly and accommodating. Excellent service and clean toilets, left you with a lingering good feeling… Maxwell Pereira/New Delhi/India

Found it expensive and I wasn’t that impressed with the food, but is in a pretty location with a good atmosphere.

Set in the expensive Apsley lock area, this place attracts an affluent crowd. The priced are quite high, but drinks are good here. Usually a wheat beer on tap. Food is good but not amazing, a favourite for leaving drinks and work meets. Tables outside by the canal, it is a well revived area of town.

This place was a bit of surprise, I was expecting some predictable and half assed chain pub but the interior was lovely and the food delightful. Much better than in a Weatherspoons, I would guess they have proper chefs at work in the kitchens rather than worker drones reheating meals in a microwave. The staff were lovely too, they had a sense of humour which is important. A bit pricey but it was shown in the quality of food, my only complaints are they have a small range of non-alcoholic beverages and the quiz was a bit too easy!
