We visited the Golden River Restaurant last night 20th Feb 2010. From the outside this restaurant appears bright, clean and fresh. The actual inside is very clean and fresh but unfortunately lacked ambience. With the lighting reduced and perhaps soft music we felt this would have enhanced the desire to stay there.
Now the down side. The food was awful. We had shitaki mushrooms deep fried in crispy batter for starters. The batter was soggy and pasty next to the mushroom due to the excessive oil in the mushroom. This was sickening and felt heavy in the stomach. We couldnt finish it. Then the main course. I asked for crispy duck. This came in a oyster sauce and there was a lot of fat on it and the egg fried rice was only leukwarm.
Three of us ate here and all agreed the quality of the food was very poor, the staff were miserable and we would definitely not wish to repeat this unpleasant experience.
