Like a moth drawn to a flame, The Stables was our one beacon in the night on the property having recently been put up at The Grove in the Hertfordshire countryside for four days. A combination restaurant /19th watering hole, the pub was a joyful sanctuary a few mere paces from the main building. Food and drink were satisfying if not a little on the high side but to be expected and in line with similar resort prices. The crisp, moist and un-greasy fish n’ chips were filling while the kicked-up bar snacks, ales, pilsners, stouts and lagers all hit the spot. An added perk is they have 3DTV w/free glasses. Kudos to the staff that was very accommodating and friendly to our«Viking» clan considering we always kept them open past their posted time of closure which we found strange that most pubs seem to close down at 11:00 p.m. So all in all, thank you Stables for warding off cabin fever and helping us from going stir crazy… Cheers!

Ditto to Keith Y. 3D sports — way cool and glasses free Abbie the bartender. Just gracious, fun and patient. A bit brave also as proven Friday. Best quote when asked for something like Coors Light. «Coors Light. that tastes like horse piss.» with a laugh. The manager. Chris?). Allowed a late closing, found the Giants game and handed us free chips. Better than tossing them out.
