Very sadly, this shop just closed. It was a recession victim. There’s just not enough money around, despite quantitative easing, to support quirky little shops that don’t sell anything you can’t live without. And yet, can we truly live without beauty and fun? Made In Pink, we will miss you.

I shouldn’t admit it, being a bloke, but I really like Made In Pink. In a town that is rapidly dying out, as the council squeeze companies out for the impeding bus station development and close down others like the nice Post Office, it’s refreshing to see such a bright and pleasant shop. They had some uproar on opening when some of the backward yokels saw the bright colour of the shop and the council apparently advised them to tone it down but they didn’t and the stink has died down. The shop is run by three lovely young ladies who always seem like they are havng the time of their lives, laughing and chatting and you always feel welcome when you go in. If they haven’t got what you want they will source it for you. They have got so much stuff in there aswell that you can go in a feww times and find things you’ve missed the first time. I’ve been a alot as it’s the best place to get all your birthday gifts for sisters, mums etc. Us blokes can shop there too — I bought an Ipod set from there as I couldn’t find a better deal in the town and was not prepared to pay over the odds for one in a man colour. They were also in the paper recently for having a ticket only evening to raise money for Breast Cancer.

Made In Pink opened in Hinckley earlier this year. It literally sells everything PINK!!! So you would expect the shop to only sell things for little girls but it actually sells anything and everything as long as it is pink! Pink shower caps, pink money boxes, pink telephones, pink vacuum cleaner. I went into the shop this week and as Christmas is approaching they even have pink Christmas trees and Pink decorations. It is brilliant. Even if you don’t like pink, you will know somebody that does and it seems that they have items to suit everybodys budget. I particularly liked the pink electric vespa style bike they had in there. The staff were happy and friendly and when I asked for help choosing a present for my niece they were really helpful. I discovered that they also have a website( ) so you can buy online too. Made In Pink is a really cool shop for young and old and is a breath of fresh air and so different from normal gift shops.
