Ahhh my local stationers and Neice and nephew gift buying destination! Stewart Millers has faced my bacon on countless occasions. Most recently I needed white 150gsm card for the Unilocal wheel of fortune and Stewart Millers came up trumps. The previous time it sorted me out was when I needed to get my 8 year old nephew some Lego for his Birthday, once again Stewart Miller delivered the goods(not literally). As you can probably tell by my opening paragraph, Stewart Miller specialises in toys, stationery, books and sweets. It’s modern interior is open plan making it really easy to find what you’re looking for. But if you can’t find something ask the capable and friendly staff who are always on hand to help. Prices are reasonable, especially for toys. You can get all the latest Lego at a cheaper price than some of the large chain toy shops. Overall a wonderful family run business. They’ve managed to maintain that feeling of personal service whilst keeping up with all of the modern products! Easy 5 stars!

A treasure chest of toys, books, confectionery and stationery. You will not be disappointed. Stewart Millers stocks all the latest trends from Beanie Babies and Panini Stickers back in the day, to Loom Bands and One Direction figurines. A long-standing, family run establishment which is the cream of the crop in Holywood.

I’m lovin it. This gem on the Holywood main street has some of my favourite everyday treats — glossy mags, cold drinks and chick lit style books at very good prices. It also keeps the kids very happy as it has the best selection of football trading cards I’ve ever come across. My favourite thing about Stewart Millar is the magazine and comic selection. One whole wall of the front section is given over to mags and comics which means that I can happily browse Marie Claire and 25 Beautiful Homes and the kids can look at the Beano(yes it still exists) and Shoot! before making our choices. And there are none of those shouty ‘This is not a library’ signs either. At the back of the shop are the toys — good selection of lego– and books. The books are worth a particular mention as the prices are great. Some of the not quite latest releases can be snaffled at Tesco-esque prices which certainly floats my boat. There’s a good selection of kids books too, especially quite unusual activity and pop up books which are always good for Christmas presents. All I need to do now is stop accidentally calling it Stuart Little which makes the kids fall about laughing every time as Stuart Little is of course a talking mouse. It’s happened, I’ve become an Embarrassing Mum.

Ha ha ha — called in here today with my friend and her son. He is six years old and she told him he could spend six pounds and he started to cry because he said he couldn’t decide what he wanted as there is just so much stuff! Sweets, toys, magazines, stationary, everything! This particular Stewart Millers is also very vast with massive sections dedicated to cards or toys or whatever. A huge santa’s grotto of a toy area out the back had the wee boy in convulsions — we had to calm him he was so excited. Unfortunately we had headed in there for one thing and it is, believe this or not, something they don’t stock — wedding decorations! As in balloons, stickers and the like! I was surprised as there seems to be everything else. I did get a bargain on wrapping paper with three sheets for 99p — beat that Clintons if you dare. Little Steven managed to get a small toy and some sweets(after blooming ages making his mind up!) so he left happy.

For me, Stewart Miller will always remind me of being young. It is kind of an old school stationers that you can get sweets and gifts in. This kind of one size fits all, one stop shop place is getting rarer and rarer. Kind of because you can head to Tesco or Asda to get a lot of the same stuff, usually at a lower price. The Holywood shop is a big, modern version of this and does quite well probably because there isn’t an Eason or a large shopping store in walking distance. The staff here are sound as a pound and they’re always helpful and polite. When I worked in a bank in Holywood they always used to come in for some change and no matter who was sent in they were always dead on. Not bad at all, just kind of superflous if you can get to an Asda or a Tesco.

I have never left Stewart Millers empty handed. I’m not kiddin’, honestly. It’s like some kind of magnetic force which leaves me completely helpless and powerless, removing all inhibitions and barriers which prevent me from purchasing extreme numbers of goods from this fave store of mine. Or maybe that’s just me shopping normally… Anyhow, Stewart Miller is a bargainous store which is primarily a newsagent and confectioners, but is also a bookshop, cardshop and toyshop. I’ve found books for peanuts, excellent sweetie deals, and, when I was younger, it was my first stop for TY Beanie Babies(remember those?! I still have an absolute ton of them stashed away in my wardrobe… couldn’t bear [excuse the pun] to part with them quite yet). The Holywood store is undoubtedly my favourite. The toy section is huge, and they are genuinely well-priced(not always super cheap), top-quality playthings. The card section is extremely well-stocked, with a huge variety to choose from, and at reasonable prices. The book section is my favourite — I’ve gotten presents for my mum and dad for next to nothing, and even picked up a football book for £1.99 from £12.99 today, and I’ve found travel books for a fiver. Oooh, its a good ‘un.
