What a treat to find a pub that is hundreds of years old. I went to this pub after being told about it by the proprietor of a bed-and-breakfast that I was staying at. The ceilings are low with thick old wood beams. I want. I have been there twice an the food was great both times.

We found ye old six bells because it was down the street from our hostel. Great food, great pints, and great dessert. Also really enjoyed our Irish waiter and his great service(and patience)!! Definitely must if you are in Gatwick, I recommend the chicken pot pie, garlic and cheese bread, fish and chips and brownie with Irish liqueur. Thanks for the hospitality, guys!

I was expecting a treat, after reading the reviews, but was slightly disappointed by the food: it was fine, but not as good as the atmosphere would lead you to expect. Maybe they’re victims of their own success: the place looks wonderful, all old, low beams, warm and comfy, and the staff is charming, but obviously overworked that night as it was heaving, so maybe we should count ourselves lucky for having a table in the first place. The menu looked a bit like it was planned by marketing, somewhere else: what can we sell to the customers in names they like, not what does the chef feel inspired to make. It’s also ironic that a place that advertises pies as a specialty(including some prepared by whoever, as the menu proudly said — no idea who whoever was) plays the old trick of serving them in a half-filled pot, covered with a puff pastry lid. That’s raising expectations, without really fulfilling. Too bad. Maybe come back and give it another try, as it seems one of the very few decent places this close to the airport. Maybe stick to the pub part, too, and order pub food instead.

The typical english pub, right beside the church and the graveyard. The beer is fresh, the food is gorgeous, if you’re around — go there and visit. You can walk from the Renaissance hotel. ;-) We go here each time we’re around on business trips.

As a local the place is good for a quick meal, but it is busy with airport passengers. The food is average, but there is better places locally.

A meal here as we spend a night nearby waiting for a flight from Gatwick is what we consider the start of our holiday. It has an extensive menu, friendly staff, good service, I can not fault it in any way

Good food served in one of the oldest buildings in Horley. Watch out for the low beams!

Great pub, probably the best in Horley. It has a very good atmosphere and nice beer garden situated next to the river out the back. The food is good and prices reasonable.
