Snipe Dales is about 6 miles outside of Horncastle, right by Hagworthingham, and was the focus for many of my school trips when I was little. I went back there recently and apart from feeling slightly smaller(as tends to happen when you visit places from your childhood), I found the beauty of the place breathtaking. There are lots of visitors during the summer months, with hardcore ‘twitchers’ spending days on end snuggled up in their little huts. There’s a picnic area, and a car park(although it’s 75p to park now), and plenty of walks of differing lengths to suit people of all ages/capabilities. Dog friendly in most of the wooded bits but not in the nature reserve itself. Really beautiful and covered in wildflowers and little brooks and conifers and just general prettiness :)
