This place has recently relocated so is improving as time goes by. It is connected to a hotel which would work nicely as a weekend away. One day at the birds of prey centre and another in York. The variety of birds is pretty good, plenty of owls and then hawks, eagles, falcons and kites. There are a variety of types of tickets, standard day ticket(which we got) then experience days or forest walks which get a bit more pricey. An adult day ticket is only £6.50. That gets you free roaming around all the birds, two shows at 1.30 and 3.30 which show different birds and offers plenty of opportunity for visitors to have the birds land on their arm and have the birds fly just over their head. If that wasn’t good enough between the shows there are various volunteers that get the birds out for handling and question times. That leads nicely on to the fact that this place is a none profit business. The admission fees and donations go to looking after the birds and buying new ones who may have been mistreated elsewhere. Every member of ‘staff’ is a volunteer with other jobs. There is a shop/café with sandwiches, drinks, cakes, ice-creams and a few souvenirs. Well worth a visit. Imagine we will be back with friends.
