Situated at the bottom of Kirkgate, just off the Ring Road, The Huddersfield Hotel is an elegant old building with a very up to date interior. It has 39 comfortable rooms, two award winning restaurants and a late night cocktail bar. There are also a couple of conference rooms.
The original cast of Last of the Summer Wine often used to stay here and there are many pictures of them dotted about the place.
We once enjoyed a pleasant weekend staying in the Rivelaux suite, named after Baron Wilson of Rievaulx (Harold Wilson, former prime minister, who was born in Huddersfield). We had a toddler at the time, and he was also made to feel very welcome.
