Woodford

echoing the review from efesbaby this leisure centre has come on leaps and bounds since the refurbishment since the floods in June 2007.
This centre offers a wide range of facilities for everyone, with disabled access and lifts.
The large pool gradually gets deeper which means that parents with children can feel a little more secure that they wont get out of their dept — there is a gun galley that is actually a water spray and a small slide. Another feature is the large water slide that is seperate from the pool which is open and supervised throughout busy periods.
There is a large sports hall that holds a number of activities from football and basket ball and is used for summer holidays activities. Woodford also has inside rackets hall for tennis and badminton.
The gym has seperate changing rooms to those used for the pool with large lockers and another hall which is used for areobic classes which are held throughout the week and range from spinning and a dance style fitness class.
The gym itself has now been installed with the latest fitness equpiment and links to a Fitlinxx system where the trainers are able to tailor a workout to your needs and monitor your progress. By setting up a programme you then just enter your own unquie ID and the machines sets the programme for which the trainer setup for you.
There is a weights area — although the free weights is only small, Woodford are building an extension to incorporate a larger free weights area and ‘junior’ gym.
The café also also under gone a refurbishment and offers better snacks and hot food, which is ideal after taking the kids swimming.
I fully applaud the transformation of woodford and i hope other leisure centres in the city lead by example of this.

Recently opened up after the heavy flooding, i took my nephew to the summer schools, it was great the staff were excellent a large selection of activites for them to undertake to stop them getting bored a great help to me and his mum. Only problem is Woodford is well known for its wave machine and that has not been replaced, and at present there are no plans to.
