This beautiful looking, wood cladded pub is extremely popular with local as well as those wanting a touch of village life relaxation. It is found more towards the Chelmsford end of this pretty village but be warned parking can be a problem as the spaces on the road out front get filled quickly. There is no pub car park. The pub itself has be recently modernised in the style of a gastro pub whilst retaining many of the original features such as beams and fireplaces. The menu is of a high standard with prices to match but arrive early if you wish to eat because space fills up quickly in the restaurant area. As it does in the bar, where a list of visiting beers is displayed and frequently changed. The Hoop takes pride in its real ale hosting an annual beer festival in the last May Bank Holiday(phone for details for 2009). During this weekend an already popular pub spills out from its small interior and pretty back garden to take over the green verges at the front. A good time certainly seems to be had by all!
