If you are looking for a fairy tale castle in the midth of hills of outstanding beauty then this is the castle for you and family to visit. Its a bit further north from Edinburgh and about an half an hour drive from Aberdeen towards the Craigorms National Park. I went last year around Easter and arrived when the Easter egg hunts were organised and lots of young children about to follow the trails and discover the treasures. The sun was shining and the flowers blossoming. The castle now is maintained by the National Trust of Scotland and if you are not a member there is a certain charge, which allowed me entrance to the amazing interior of the castle and the gardens, and walled gardens, surrounding the castle. There were plenty of rooms to explore like the Hall, bedrooms, kitchen and the tour through the house took me a while. Lots of interesting stories to be told by the ladies that kept an eye on certain rooms. I think the castle was build in the 15th century and the turrets are just so lovely to look at. They even sold books(second hand) in a small room in the castle, which was really awesome, as I like books. One of the Fraser clan members was shot during a war and survived with one leg ambutated. There is a story about the bullet that is also displayed. I would definitely go back to this place as its a fun day out for children and adults alike.
