RSPB Dungeness

This is a beautiful place. My father lives down the road from here, so we bought him membership as part of his birthday present.
It’s well worth a look — I am not an avid bird watcher in any way, but I spent a good couple of hours down here looking at some very interesting stuff.
They have several hides in a large circle around a lake and each one offers a view of something different. There is loads of information about what you are looking at and everyone was so friendly — staff and other visitors alike. There always seems to be an expert on hand to help you figure out what to look at!
The only thing that could make it better would be a café, but it is too quiet for that really. There is a coffee machine, but if you were planning any time down there, I would suggest taking your own drinks. There are picnic tables scattered about and it would make a great day out for kids. They have a classroom inside set up for children’s activities and a brilliant gift shop!
It’s actually a lovely walk around a very special place, even if you don’t want to stare at birds!
