As far as pubs go, this is pretty standard. Large, but standard. It is no secret that it’s success is largely due to it being directly opposite PRYZM. No surprise at all either. The prices are low, music loud and the students come out in their hordes. I am not one to complain of the demographic of these hordes, but they are hordes nonetheless. I think this is a whetherspoons chain and having a clever name ‘kings tun = kingston’ it has everything I need for a good night out; pints and puns. If you are wanting a pinto to relax with, don’t come here. If you want to feel old and rlfeel nostalgic about your student days, pop on down!

Dirty every time I visit with plates and glasses in skyscrapers on each table. Staff don’t seem to know what they’re doing but are arrogant. If I was a mystery shopper I would shut this place down. Food’s decent though.

Really loved this place. This was my first trip to London and my first time trying *official* London Fish & Chips at an authentic pub! Really amazing food, decent prices(honestly cheap!), with EPIC deals like a free alcoholic drink with my dinner order! Win! I was sort of newbie and didn’t realize you have to order your food at the bar — so I sat there like a bit of an idiot for awhile waiting on a server to come over to the table. Lawl. Final Verdict: I would definitely go back if I ever find myself in London again! For sure!

Very nice and massive pub. The food is as good as any other JD Wetherspoon’s and it’s got the cheapest lager in Kingston area(excluding offers or happy hours from other places), 2 pounds! During the weekends they close at 1AM and they have a small dance floor as well. Very recommendable if you’re looking for cheaper drinks and a good place. It’s full of students tho,

When I turned 18 this became be the place I’d go after college for a few drinks with friends. It’s not a bad place, clean-ish, average prices. The staff upstairs were a bit rude and the food isn’t great though. I had my 19th here a couple years ago, and the male friends I had with me didn’t get let in, yet when my female friends showed a bit of cleavage they were let in without being asked for ID! I thought nothing of it at the time, but looking back it’s appalling. When I was 18 my best friend was 17 and we occasionally came here after college. One time however, I was sitting with my Pinot Grigio and my friend wanted a pepsi. He went to order it himself and they asked him for ID. He said it’s only a pepsi, not alcohol. They then stated he isn’t allowed in at all if underage(Bearing in mind this is lunch time, and he was with an adult!) even though it’s widely known anyone over 16 can have one unit of alcohol when eating a meal, and I was over 18 with ID! Let alone that he only wanted a pepsi. He is also disabled, I bet they wouldn’t have fussed if it were one of my female friends! I do hope they’ve refreshed their staff since this occasion. But luckily I’ve moved away to a city that has better wetherspoons.

Pretty decent place. Nothing too exciting about it really. The place is huge though so there is plenty of room to drink and socialize. I’ve heard the food is decent but I never had the chance to try it since the only time I’ve ever gone here was on a Wednesday night(the usual party night for English college kids). I would go back!

Must be good, since I always find myself here! The drinks and food are priced well, but it’s pub food, you can’t really expect too much, can you?

Excellent location for those who are getting the night started before entering oceana across the road. Good size spread across 2 floors. Any student night you will be lucky to find a space to stand. Very amusing to watch the crowds disperse across the road at about 9pm. Cheap cheap drinks– you definitely can’t go wrong. Good weatherspoon pub.

A shining example of a very nice pub, open early serving breakfast. Real Ales and an electronic poker table, the staff are polite and the atmosphere is vibrant. It’s easy to see why Timmy Martins chains of Pubs are Number 1.

This is a Lloyds No 1 version of a spoons, so there is music played and a DJ in the evenings. It’s cheap(as you would expect), and generally full in the early evening with overdressed teenagers having a few cheap drinks before going to a club somewhere in Kingston. It’s pretty big, and generally fine; I have certainly come across many Wetherspoons that are MUCH more depressing than this one.

The Whetherspoons domination of Kingston. Over two floors, both fairly large in size, this place is filled with seats. And even still, it doesn’t have enough for everyone some nights. Food is typically good, with salt and mayonnaise always kept in good stock(the only condiments of worth with chips!), served in good time in all but the busiest of lunch times. Drinks are standard, averagely priced for a non central pub, and the pitchers mixed well. If you’re lucky, they overfill your wine glass, too! Somehow, the place remains well aired during summer, both upstairs and downstairs, without making you feel ill after too long. Many a staff event, or friendly gathering, has been done here. Turn up on the right night, and they even turn part of the downstairs into a dance floor! Right opposite Oceana, for those after a pre-club drink/meeting spot, and next door to a late opening seller of cigarettes, with buses and the train station in view of one of the doors, makes it very well located.

Okay, it’s cheap, cheap, cheap! Pints of lager and local ales are under £2.50. House wine(red, white and rose) is cheap as well, but it comes on tap, not from a bottle. But don’t let that put you off as it’s surprisingly good tasting! Thursday’s curry night is fantastic — a curry and drink(alcohol included) for 5 or 6 quid, can’t quite remember. They have about 12 curries to choose from, and the hotter ones are actually quite spicy instead of generic-bland-pub-spicy. The service is quick if you are off to the movies and want a quick bite(both the food service and bar service is fantastic because of the shear number of staff). But be warned, it is a favourite place for the Kingston-kids — barely 18 year olds to go in and drink excessively. It gets crowded on Thurs. and Fri. evenings as the kids go there before Oceania. And my group got asked for ID recently there, and when we refused to show it(we are soooooo over 30), we were told that it is a LAW(that’s right) that we have to carry ID with us in this pub in case we pass out and they need to know who we are seriously! The place’s décor is a bit dreary as expected, with shady, flashy lighting, open areas, sticky wooden tables and the low rumble of music or chatter. But, I like it for a pre or post movie drink or their dinner specials(like Curry night) which are fantastic value for ££ Cheers

This is a Wetherspoons with all the usual things you will find in one food and drink prices are good value(although not the excellent bargain they once were) now non-smoking it a great place to have a quick drink or meal. It can get crowded at times and a table can be hard to find the toilets can be a problem and were overflowing on my last visit which was not so nice. Staff work hard keeping customers served and I’ve never been ignored at the bar. Light is a bit dark in places if you want to read a paper. Avoid near the start of the University year in September/October as students will be enjoying there new found freedom to become legless.

A nice large pub which is generally busy and bustling in the evenings, especially at the weekends. The drinks are very reasonably priced which tends to attract the crowds. Tends to attract a slightly younger crowd, especially before the local clubs warm up. The food is also very good and reasonably priced.

A lively, fun pub with a great drinks menu including delicious cocktails which are also really good value. Two of the busiest nights coincide with Kingston student nights on Mondays and Wednesdays. On these days this pub is filled with students from quite early on, all using it as a starting point before most commonly heading off to Oceana accross the road. Indeed, the King’s Tun acts as a great lookout point from which one can tell if the queue for Oceana is starting to get big. Then, there tends to be a huge rush as everyone runs accross the road. However, if lots of noisy, drunk students who tend to make the toilets look an absolute mess aren’t youre cup of tea, other evenings here are much quieter. The seating area is enormous and the food good. On weekends there is also a dancefloor later on.

The perfect starting point to a night out in Kingston. Very reasonably priced, generously measured drinks meakes it a favourite for the pre-clubbing drinks. Indeed, can make a fairly good night out in itself. The large downstairs seating area is cleared and converted into a dancefloor on weekends. However, if its a quiet drink you seek(particularly on a wednesday evening) parhaps look elsewhere, as the music is loud and conversation can be tricky. Food served is good, but be warned-you could wait some time for it.
