I live 15 miles away but like to visit Booths once a week as I enjoy the quality of the products. My only gripes really is that some of my favourite products are often not available and I think the ordering process needs improving. This week I noticed that Toms pies had a new range out instead of Pie Minister. Pie Minster are far superior and should be the premier pie on offer. Two products I particularly like are Ramsey black pudding and Mumtaz curries. There was no Tikka Masala on offer last Wednesday which was a disappointment after coming so far.

Wonderful selection of foodstuff. Every aisle is filled with staple and unusual things. Can stay forever if you love to cook. I got some cartons of Booths brand teas as souvenir and all my friends loved them!!!

First things first — I’m biased here. I grew up in Lancashire and trips to Booths were part of the scenery. But it was only when I grew up and moved away from the north west that I realised what an amazing supermarket chain it is, and what a local gem it is too. My one wish for Manchester is that we had more Booths stores. Waitrose is great, but Booths is amazing AND locally sourced. So whenever I head anywhere and there’s a Booths I make a point of popping in, and on a recent trip to Knutsford I did the same. Tip top tip — they have the biggest car park in town, you can park for up to two hours for just 80p, and if you spend £2 or more in the supermarket, your parking is refunded. Now I’ve been in many Booths stores over the years but I can honestly say this was far and away the nicest I have ever seen. Huge, beautifully laid out and with more produce than you can shake a stick at. Hell, their wine department even lets you have free samples! There’s a fantastic fishmongers’ counter, plus all the usual fresh produce you’d imagine. And then there are the cakes. Oh my! The cakes! Row upon row of tables covered in freshly baked bread, pastries and cakes… plus chillers of fresh pastry delights you can take home and bake yourself. But I was content with the cake counter — Coffee Renoir to go for me! TL;DR — Booths is the king of supermarkets, and this is the king of all Booths stores!
