When I worked in Roundhay I used stop by this place every morning to get my caffeine fix. It was always packed which is always a good sign and seems to be frequented by the older gentleman, having a coffee and breakfast, which as I peek over their shoulders looks lovely. Having a scan of the menu is looks very reasonable value. You can also get spit roasted chicken, which although seems a bit random does give the place a gorgeous roast chicken smell that makes your mouth water as soon as you walk in. When I did finally get to sample some of the gorgeous cake on offer I was kicking myself that I hadn’t tried it earlier. Most and rich chocolate cake got added to my morning routine, yummy.

A charming name and a delightful shop front and a buzzing atmosphere as you enter. I was prepared to have a coffee — it was that mid-morning time — and thought I could work through the smell of cooked meat until I realised it was a rotisserie with about three carcasses turning around and around dripping with fat and expelling their nasty little odours. If the idea of stinking of roasted chicken for the rest of the day doesn’t bother you, indeed, if you are like some that I know then this may even appeal to you I, however, had to turn tail and leave sharpish… which was fine cos I found an ace place down the road… silver linings and all that.
