We generally tend to go to Arti’s for weekend dinners as its mostly the place when you are in a mood for some Indian fast food. Food has been great on 99% of the occassions. The ambience is quite nice and it takes you into the feel of an Indian village but with a modern touch. The service however could be better. On occassions I have seen the waiter(who is probably also the owner) doing a Mr Invisible on the customers and is nowhere to be seen for long intervals of time and we have seen him on the phone on some occassions. I would probably give them a 1 or a 2 if not for the good standard of food as your customers are those who give you your bread and butter and customers will give a 5 on 5 only if you perform all around. As always, they have a traditional Indian swing downstairs which may be good if you have kids and just a note do not count this place if you wish to visit late as the kitchen closes at 10

Five of us went on Saturday it was brilliant. Cannot compliment them enough; we hadn’t booked and the place soon filled up, but we had a lovely table, great service and superb food. We will definitely go again. Was really surprised at the bill too, not at all over the top for the quality of the place or the food nice to see some different items on the menu too, not your run-of-the-mill curry house.

I often go to Arti’s for a weekend takeaway especially when it’s been a hard week in the office. Food is always excellent, takeaway or eat in, plenty of it & reasonably priced. The price list does vary favourably for takeaway against eat in and you also benefit from free poppadums & pickles! Service has always been good & knowledgable staff are always on hand to give advice and recommendations. A very good selection of meat & veggie options across starters and mains to keep everyone happy. I haven’t tried the desserts due to eyes bigger than my stomach on the prior courses. Definately worth a visit!

I ordered food for takeaway from Arti and was told it would be 30 – 40 minutes before I could pick it up. When I got there 40 minutes later I was told I would have to wait and the guy didn’t even ask my name or what my order was. I had to wait nearly another 10 minutes before I was asked what my name/order was. I heard good things about Arti from my housemates so was prepared to put the first hiccup aside. I had ordered a Chicken Madras, Pilau Rice and a Garlic Naan. I have had some brilliant Madras’s previously, so know exactly how a Madras should be, but this was so far off the mark I am convinced that it was not even a Madras. The rice was okay but the Garlic Naan wasn’t great either. So I was really disappointed as it just didn’t taste very nice. Update — after checking my receipt I can see I got a Chicken Maratha, I specifically asked twice for a Chicken Madras on the phone.

Arti’s in the old police station in Chapel A, next door to the library. We went on a weeknight and it was really quiet — just 3 other tables were taken — however we got given a table in the tiny little corridor next to the loos(I think it was next to the loos anyway — what struck me most was just how weeny it was). There aren’t any windows in that bit, you know, and it’s not entirely condusive to a pleasant dining experience. Another couple arrived after our starters had arrived and were seated in the same bit but had the common sense to ask for a different table — we didn’t think of that… The food, though, was superb. It’s not a lavish menu in terms of the quantity of dishes, but it’s got a straightforward selection of genuinely delicious dishes. No greasy poppadoms and chewy naans here, thanks very much. Reasonably priced and good service means it’s a good choice for a curry in LS7, just make sure you get a good table.
