Barley Mow

I love this pub so I have awaited a new chef to raise the bar so to speak. That they have, I ordered gammon, vegetables, pineapple and a egg. £7.99, good value and cooked to perfection. I received a float of gravy gratis, which is a great gesture. The Barley Mow has risen…

Not a bad pub, the food has not improved in the last 5 years. I keep coming back hoping this will change. A typical cheap eating house with cheap food. I requested a Nachos sharer which was more like a snack for 1, burnt nachos, pulled pork which is questionable? The staff did not know what this means? Not the best, sorry

Traditional pub located on the way into Bramley from town end. They have a standard menu which you find in others of the same chain — very cheap and not bad munching after a hard day at work!
The atmosphere is generally quite nice with music always playing and a weekly quiz. I used to come here most nights with my housemates just to relax and drink some cheap lager — unfortunately they don’t sell real ales or anything like that.

This was the first pub I went to having moved slightly further outside of Leeds, to Bramley. On first impressions, the Barley Mow reminded very much of a Wetherspoons pub that I might find in the city centre, with one crucial difference, the lack of people. The décor is very similar, as, thankfully are the prices. A pint of Carlsberg costs £1.67, which can never be sneered at, and the food is very reasonable at just £3 a burger, with chips.
They have a darts board and a pool table for entertainment, and have large flatscreen TVs. Initially the reason I went to the Barley Mow was to watch the international football a few weeks back, instead we got the X Factor. The next time we went to watch the football, they were not showing it. What the priorities are on those TVs is anyone’s guess!
There is nothing special about this pub, but if it is a cheap pint you’re after and a game of pool, it’s perfectly adequate.
