I’ve passed CM several times and decided to give it a try. I wanted to try the chicken shawarma but they were out of it that day so I tried the chicken bastilla which came with hummus and salad. I loved the chicken bastilla that I had in Marrakech and had hoped for the same with this one. It wasn’t bad but can’t say it was the best. CM usually appears very busy as its located in the Leeds market so it might take awhile to get your order in since you’re not entering an actual restaurant but more of food stand. Service was good, friendly and quick. I would try it again but would opt for something different.

Was stopping off at Leeds on way to Bradford so had to try and get a hummus/falafel fix whilst there. This place delivered and some. Ordered the mixed sharwarma which was Chicken-kebab meat style with falafel made and cooked fresh(waited five minutes while cooked) and then hummus, salad and other accompanyments that were all just tasty and heavenly. Came in a takeaway box and i took it back to eat it on the train. If in Leeds, find this place out. This is what Unilocal and google maps on phones was invented

Really enjoyed this little eastern gem in Leeds Kirkgate Market. Lovely mint tea and baklava from Paradise. One could almost imagine an oriental soukh around. Next time we go, we’ll try something more substantial from the perfectly sized menu. The only thing missing was comfy seating. You can sort of lean against a nearby stall, but it’s not ideal

I had heard great things about Café Moor. My friend and I had been shopping in Kirkgate and I remembered hearing about ‘that place in the market that does really good falafel’. So we hastily went over. I was a hot day so wanted something healthy, fresh and delicious and boy did we find it! If you’re looking for somewhere to pick something up on the quick, then this might not be the place, but only because everything is made fresh to order. If you have time(and I only mean 5 minutes) then it’s certainly worth the wait! We both ordered the falafel king wrap, as we wanted the halloumi too, which the standard falafel wrap doesn’t include. The king option comes with chips, but trying to be healthy we opted out. The server was extremely friendly and accommodating, and offered extra halloumi instead — who can possibly say no to that! The salads and hummus looked so fresh and beautifully presented in gorgeous colourful pottery. The wrap was well packaged which made it easy to eat on the move. The falafel tastes so fresh, crispy on the inside but still fluffy in the middle — not dry or greasy what so ever. The salad was delicious and the hummus creamy and just mmmm! I will 100% be returning here, I really think it’s my new number one lunch spot in Leeds. My boyfriend cannot wait to try it too! I must try the mint tea next time, as I have heard amazing things. Writing about it has made me want to return right now.

On hearing loads about this place, i had to have a visit before i left for Doncaster. There are tons of places you can get an average/overpriced sandwich or salad in Leeds. The ‘office worker on lunchtime break’ market really is big round here it seems. So… does it live up to the hype? For a start you really can’t miss the place. It’s the most colourful and exciting looking stand in Leeds Market. Lots of spicy and exciting looking food and spices on show. The service was so damn friendly as well! I was greeted like i was a regular(well i guess i am now) and my wrap came pretty fast and was wrapped up pretty nice. If you haven’t been here go now! Dump your crappy arse Subway and come here! I opted for the falafel Schwarma and damn… It was well nice. Really creamy and the humous really complimented falafel and all the fresh vegetables! It was the best wrap I’ve tasted in Leeds. You simply must try it. Well worth the £3 I paid. If you must visit here though it does seem to get busy. I came on a Friday at 2pm just after the big rush to get lunch, so the place wasn’t that busy. I have to note as well there are a wide range of people who come here. It isn’t a pace that has been taken over by the suit and tie and office dress brigade… yet.

I don’t know what it is but some of the more cheaper places actually mostly serve the best and tastiest food. Woah this certainly didn’t disappoint with a range of food portraying cuisine from Turkey, Persia and Tunisia and a few more. We were certainly looking forward to trying some middle eastern cuisine made in front of our eyes. The choice boy oh boy Tunisian curry, Boureks, Couscous, Paella & Tagines. Which one do we go for. My mouth was already watering. Eyes were popping out like I had seen the hottest thing on the planet. Finally decided on the lamb tagine and a filo pastry like chappati with filling of spinach inside and one of vegetable. I know, I was hungry, Trinity Leeds was really busy so needed to refuel. My partner went for the spicy fish bourek. Tuna with Harissa and vegetables, YUMMY. For such a small place this place really had a lot crammed into it. You have to admire the people who run this place, there tenacity and there will to survive in this recession. 4 people in a triangular shaped 4×4×4 metres wide triangle not cubicle. The lady working there has only been here 4 months. This is truly a Kohinoor in the making to put on our Queens crown. I see this place going a long way from its humble beginnings. Watch out for this one. Leeds you have got to be proud of this one. Another visit is definitely on the cards. Cannot wait. Only negative for me was them not having any chicken, especially with the horse meat scandal.

We used to go to Moorish at Hyde Park but one day we went and found it had disappeared and felt really sad… Today we discovered it reincarnated as Café Moor within the Kirkgate Market and joined the queue to reacquaint ourselves. For £14 we had 3 lunch size courses of the most delicious North African freshly cooked food plus some stuffed vine leaves and mint tea. The staff are really friendly and the owner was as welcoming and charismatic as ever. They can also do outside catering for private parties as well as festivals. I am trying to think of a good reason to throw a party as I know their food would be really appreciated by friends and family! My new favourite lunch time haunt!

I’m always interested in new shops opening in Leeds Market as I like to support local business’ and traders so I was excited to try Shawarma. A Lebanese and Halal ‘pop up’ stall situated in the ‘Upper’ part of the market near the haberdashery shop and flower stall(and close to the Source) which has an array of smells and sights to strike up interest from most people who pass by.(not sure if it’s to be a permanent stall). So, new year, new adventure. I went here for lunch with my friend Al who always likes to try new stuff. The staff are very encouraging, explaining what they offer and showing you how its made. There are 10⁄12 choices on the menu– I chose veggie, Al chose chicken. The food is prepared and cooked in front of you so you have to wait and watch. it’s mainly done on a grill or the veggie stuff(mainly being falafel) is shallow fried before being ‘wrapped’ and warmed on a panini maker! There were dishes of olives and hummus on the counter and you could see all the ingredients that go into your order. The prices are reasonable too= £4.50 or less per wrap/kebab etc. I was happy with my falafel wrap but it was a tad lacking in the spicy punch I expected, Al like his ‘kebab cake’(we couldn’t remember the actual name!) It was nice to experience different cuisine in a handy way and not be so stuffed after but next time I’m gonna be brave and ask for something a bit spicier! I think this is a break off shop from the Shawarma on Raglan Road in Headingley but having never been there I couldn’t be sure– they do both seem to offer similar if not the same menu!
