Halfway through my birthday Sunday, it suddenly occurred to me that I hadn’t factored in my lack of birthday cake. Remembering my previous visits to Hepworth’s, I thought it would be the perfect place to indulge. As the other half doesn’t have a sweet tooth — and was still recovering slightly from our night before — he just went for a coffee, whereas I opted for a slice of victoria sponge, served with blackberry jam in place of the regular raspberry, and a glass of prosecco. After all, it was a celebration! The cake was tasty, if a bit dense, so we did end up sharing it. Service was quick and friendly, and the ‘proper lunch’ food being served up looked delicious. A great staple to have on the map.

I LOVE this place! Popped in yesterday for an impromptu catchup with Jade C and her nana(who is adorable). This place is sooo cozy with their pretty moss green walls, rustic furniture and local produce. The staff here are beyond lovely, refilling our teapot with hot water so we could get the most out of our brew. The cake here is amazing and so reasonably priced! Perfect when washed down with a nice cup of tea. Definitely coming back!

Met Ms Rowena there for lunch today and initially I’m impressed. A fab choice of sandwiches/pannini menu and salad options. A very nice display of assorted cheeses, big fat olives and sun dried tomatoes all of which are to purchase. Around the deli itself are made up ‘hampers’ showing what goods are available for gift ideas, preserves, pasta products, oils and chutneys all priced to sell and looking very attractive. Anyway, lunch. I ordered a goats cheese & rocket sandwich with caramelised onion chutney & pine nuts with balsamic glaze. Very nice as the picture and served on a quirky board with some homemade coleslaw. Sadly, no pine nuts were present. My drink of choice was Earl Grey which I was offered lemon or milk with-i asked for both but when it was handed down to where I sat there was no lemon available. The seating area is a little cramped but the whole shop is not a large offering. I enjoyed my lunch but 1 star has been left off due to– –cramped seating area –lemon being offered for my T but none then available –no pine nuts in my sandwich –the T pot was only half full of water and the T wasn’t great quality. Oh and the cake I got to take away was some of the nicest Victoria Sponge I’ve had in a long time! I will be back to try the fab looking breakfast menu!

Hepworth’s is a great café. Here I’ve had my best brunches In Yorkshire, by a good margin. The eggs are perfectly cooked, the English muffins fresh and nicely toasted, and the presentation is also very well taken care of. The sandwiches and soups are also quite tasty, though perhaps not as excellent as the brunch food. Overall, their prices are incredibly low for the quality of the food, and I’m surprised that it’s not harder to find seating, especially over the weekend. They also function as a store and have a very nice selection of cheese and other delicatessen products, such as pasta and fancy cookies and baked goods. The waiting and serving staff is very helpful and will let you taste a sample of each and every kind of cheese you’re interested in buying. The only thing to worry about is that, since all of their cheese is very good, after you’ve tried it you’ll probably be tempted to buy more than you originally intended to.

Popped in not long before closing time for a hot drink during a catch-up with a friend and couldn’t resist the peanut butter chocolate brownie waving at me from behind the cabinet. My hot chocolate gave a deliciously creamy chocolatey hug on a chilly day but my brownie and friend’s slab of rockie road required a good bit of sawing to get through. It was still tasty but would have been amazing if moist — maybe it had been sitting all day just waiting for me. I was still charmed by this little cute café; it reminded me of the café culture in the laneways of Melbourne, Australia. The menu looked great and and was very reasonably priced — my hot choc in a large mug and cake cost less than £5 I’m sure. Also available to buy were little delicatessent treats and eats to take home for your tummy and own cooking. I live up North but would pop in here again on another visit to Leeds to indulge in more than coffee and cake — based on the other reviews — the savoury food sounds too good to miss! Staff were also really friendly and gave great service!

Delightful eggs florentine!(Delicately wilted spinach, perfectly poached eggs, scrumptious hollandaise — topped with big flakes of sea salt.) Love love love love love. I couldn’t believe how inexpensive it was, too! In Leeds it’s hard to find a café space that’s neither tacky nor run-down nor pretentious: this space is perfect. Also bought some AMAZING cheeses at the counter afterwards. The staff was amazing at answering questions, offering recommendations, and even insisted on our trying several types of cheeses to help us make the selection. I’m moving permanently to Leeds in a few months and I can’t wait to become a regular here.

I’ve still not made it in time for their eggs benedict, but it’s a personal promise that I shall. If the quality of the sandwiches are anything to go by, I’ll be wowed, I’m sure of it. I’ve been back, had a roast beef and horseradish sandwich, and I’ve experienced some seriously quality lunch once again. I can’t recommend them enough! Fresh bread, generous and deliciously cooked beef, gorgeous red cabbage coleslaw and heaps of flavour. This time I had extra cheese, and was expertly guided to the Spanish mild cheese, which was a delicious addition. The coffees are large, but perhaps not as gourmet as the likes of Laynes, even so it did the job. The service was great, as before, with a personal touch and you can tell they’re passionate about what they do. The space is much larger than before, since they’ve had a shift around, so more folks can sit in and enjoy the delights. There’s plenty of hampers, and goodies, to look at whilst you dine –if you’re thinking about edibles for Christmas, I highly recommend a browse. Oils, pastas, jars of various condiments and such — a proper deli, offering a range of treats! Basically, it’s a new favourite in Leeds, and I couldn’t recommend them enough. I’ve heard plenty on Twitter about their kitchen evenings– where there’s a set meal, and you’ve to book a spot, so I’ll certainly be going to one of those soon. Also, for fun images about town, follow the head chef and owner on Instagram! Get yourself down for a properly decent feed, at very reasonable prices, given the quality of what’s on offer. Absolutely love it!

Went to Hepworth’s Deli on Thursday for their monthly Pop Up restaurant. Hands down the best meal I’ve had in Leeds.(Granted, I’ve only been here a little over 2 months. But, still. It was outstanding.) I was blown away by the quality and presentation of the meal. Chef Joe Hepworth is extremely talented and Front-of-House man, Kyle is super friendly. Yes, it’s a small spot, but I loved the intimate setting for a Pop Up night. And it’s bring your own bottle, which made it a delicious and affordable evening. Can’t wait to go back for another Pop Up, and to just stop in for their fantastic daytime fare. Also, we picked up some of their Italian imported olive oil and basalmic vinegar. Very reasonably priced for top quality stuff.

Definitely my favourite place for brunch in Leeds centre. The scones are to die for, and the tea was perfection, for two people coming to under £8. Joe, the chef, is a really nice guy and deserves the praise he gets on Unilocal — also, he is one of the best indie chefs around. The only bad point, is that if you sit on the table that is by itself, you have the queue of customers stood next to/over you.

I’d heard or read about this place. It’s very quant. Lots to spend your money on. First time in here. Was wonderful. It’s nice to walk into a place that is nicely laid out with a good selection. I had a cappuccino and the last orange and lemon sponge cake. This came to less than £3! The cake was humongous and amazing! There’s not that much seating inside, but I came at a quiet time so had the place to myself. Will be visiting again to try all the other delicious looking cakes. The food menu looks great too. Will save that for next time.
