This used to be a really good café but unfortunately just recently it seems to have lost its way slightly. I went last week for a sausage sandwich and coffee on entering i noticed the change the main thing been cleanliness. They have an espresso machine but looks like it was last cleaned when it was new. Overall the sandwich was just ok and the coffee was undrinkable.

Like the proverbial sailor I have one in every port(except he gets the women and I get the cafes) and if I’m in this area it might as well be Mochaccino, except that I’ve a feeling that I couldn’t keep coming back. Sure, it’s friendly and the coffee was acceptable, the toasted sandwich contained all the bread, cheese and toastiness one would expect and the service was pretty quick but it was also a little devoid of character and it looked scruffy inside. The name suggests something slightly continental but the appearance is more greasy spoon.

I stopped in to Mochaccino for a bacon butty and a black coffee on one particularly early morning before a game of golf, and I got exactly what I was after. I was happy with the greasy sarnie(with your choice of sauce) and the strength of the takeout coffee, but I left with the feeling that I could have got a lot more than I did. As the name suggests, they do more than just standard teas and coffees, with the full range of Italian coffees on offer — lattes, cappuccinos, espressos, etc., while they do plenty of other types of sandwich, unhealthy or otherwise. Thus I reckon Mochaccino is probably the best best for cheap hot drinks and butties in Cookridge.
