If I had to sum up Molton Brown in one word it would be Luxury(with a capital L). With its rich dark colour scheme it immediately conjures up images of dark leather couches and antique mahogany coffee tables… the kind of furniture I imagine would inhabit a home whose bathroom is stocked with Molton Brown products. Open-plan, surfaces gleaming, bath oils lined up like some sort of show home display. Not a home I recognize! Nor bath products I could imagine regularly using. However I did receive a leather bound gift set of Molton Brown goodies for my 21st birthday from a friend who had clearly spent too much on me! Funnily enough I have just unearthed a voucher for a Molton Brown facial that came as part of the gift… I completely forgot I had it! I wonder if it’s still valid after three years!!? Well the products in my gift included shower gel and conditioner… they were perfectly lovely, smelled scrumptious and worked a treat but at such prices(£17 for a body wash!) you wouldn’t really expect anything less! As a gift for someone who enjoys a good pamper sesh and has a penchant for luxury you probably can’t go wrong… but let’s just say I can’t imagine popping down to Molton Brown to stock up on bathroom essentials! If I felt like splashing out on quality bathroom goodies I’d prefer to go somewhere like Lush, where their products have principles, the vast majority of their ingredients are natural, they smell delicious, work a treat… and are cheaper to boot!

Molton Brown occupies a large unit at the entrance of the Victoria Quarter coming into it from the Vicar Lane side. I must admit I first became familiar with the Molton Brown brand from their appearances on a certain shopping telly channel some years back. Being a bit of weirdo about ordering things that I apply to my skin without testing them, the addition of Molton Brown in the city centre was a welcome one. With a huge array of products for all combinations of skin type and sensitivities, Molton Brown provides a beautiful selection of lovely scented products, that funnily enough don’t cause me to break out. Dedicated teams of beauty experts are employed here, and it helps muchly when you’ve not really got a clue what you’re in the market for. Catering to both men and women, it’s a refreshing sight to see some of the more skin conscious young fellas in Molton Brown for a skin consult. Either way it’s a skin education, and with demos available it’s fun too. Don’t expect to pay supermarket prices for your bath care, skin creams, facial scrubs and other beauty regiment accessories, cos it aint ever gonna happen, not even in sale season. It’s expensive, but it’s luxurious, and not to pilfer l’oreal, but you’re worth it. Awh!

I’m a massive fan of Molton Brown and really love their range of gorgeous smelling handwashes and hand lotions. I always buy either Thai Vert or Rose Granati for my bathroom at home. They smell lovely and really make your hands feel soft and moisturised. They have a HUGE range of producs for bath and body, mens grooming and candles and I’m never disappointed by the lovely staff in store — they always have time to talk to you and discuss products and tell you about any offers coming up that you may be interested in. Also, I really love the carrier bags, I’m really sad for this and love it when you go to a shop and they give you a proper cardboard carrier with rope handles… even better is that they fasten it with a Molton Brown ribbon for that extra special touch. I’m definitely a huge fan and would encourage everybody to try it.
