I love Nandos. I am addicted to the flavour and texture of the medium spiced whole chicken. However, this Nandos seem to have no system. They do not cope well under pressure when busy and there is no order to who gets a table when. The chickens are small and one chicken is not enough for two people. Two meals with drinks and no dessert, no matter how you work the menu, will not leave you much change from £25.00. All said the food is good. Service hard to assess as it is mainly self service. When you have queued for your table, you are escorted to your seat, handed a menu and that is about it. The rest is down to you. The till is situated to the same area that diners wait for a table so it does get exceptionally chaotic in one corner. If you are hungry, bear in mind, that in addition to waiting for your meal to be cooked, you will wait for your table and wait at the till to order. As soon as you have finished your food, there is no wait for the staff to wisk away your plate and glass. I always feel like it is a conveyor belt process, which is a shame as it is not cheap. But as said above, tasty!

I went last week for the first time with hubby, baby, and friend. I was craving spicy wings. Shared a wing platter with hubby. For his sake, ordered the mango-lime(mild). Happily for me, transforming the mild wings into super-hot ones was super easy as Nando’s provides unlimited help-yourself hot sauces. The food was tasty; as fast as fast food, but seemed to be made of real animal and grown things, and not just sawdust. The all-you-can-eat frozen yogurt was fun, if flavourless. I found the whole cafeteria-style thing with going to order and pay for your food beforehand a bit odd, but the place felt warm, friendly, and comfortable, kind of like TGI Friday made funkier/tastier, and not at all like a cafeteria. Family friendly, with high chairs. I’d definitely go again!

This Nando’s is like any other really, except for the fact that it’s smaller and busier than all the others I have been to. Nando’s became a bit of a craze a few years ago, and I’ve been part of that — I probably go every few months or so, and I do love it dearly. There is plenty to love after all — the casualness, the refillable drinks, the refreshing lack of waitering service, and of course the expertly marinated and grilled chicken. This Nando’s, being in Kirkstall’s forever busy entertainment park, should really be bigger, however, as it attracts hoardes of people every night of the week. If you go on a weekend, expect a half hour wait and your food to take another half hour to come. If you really fancy a Nando’s, I’d recommend the one in town — they’re just better equipped to cope with a rush there.
