Neville’s DIY has all the DIY charm of an independent shop and the retro look of a shop that has been around since 1975. It provides a welcome glimpse of the quality shops the Merrion Market may have had to offer in more prosperous times. It is a good size and stocks a broad range of DIY products including paint, roofing materials, carpet insulation, table cloth fabrics, as well as the nuts bolts and door handles one would expect. The man at the counter(could he be Neville? Hope so!) knows his stuff and is very helpful and informative. He clearly has some loyal regular customers and the shop has stood the test of time. Go Neville!

Who is Neville and where is he? I’d like to thank him for opening such a great store full of DIY loveliness! Perfect for picking up arty crafty bits and for picking things up for small home alterations… eg. glueing my mirror frame back together! You’d never know! Anyway, pretty cheap compared to the B&Q’s DIY and the like. Thanks Neville!

One of the few remaining shops left in the sad-looking Merrion Market, Neville’s DIY is still going strong after nearly 35 years and deserves to last 35 more. Defiant in the face of competition from the DIY superstores that didn’t exist when it went into business, this shop is still the best place in town for all your making and fixing needs. Plus, I like the owner because he doesn’t laugh at me when I go in and point at things on bits of paper, with obviously no clue what it is that I’ve been sent to buy. Good for crafty bits as well as supplies for more substantial DIY, the prices are here are comparable to those in the larger stores and the service you get will be better by far.
