New Ho Garden

Thanks to Frances’ tip off, I decided to sate my heavy hunger and weak limbs with a helping of bad boy take away from this place, a few weeks ago. In fact, so happy was I, that my very next order came from this place. It’s not overtly dissimilar (in my experience) to your standard Chinese take away, but truly, the salt n’ pepper chips are something else –very spicy, but very very moreish!
I ordered my standard, which is a special curry, special fried rice, and the aforementioned chips and was awarded a huge round dish of special fried rice. There wasn’t perhaps as much ‘topping’ meat as with other places, but I’ve yet to have a heartier portion bestowed upon me. As for the curry, it was lovely, and tasted a little sweeter and a little more 5 spice (is that the one, or is it 7?) than other places. Regardless, I was finished before having gotten through a third of the food-​so had plenty for the next day. Also worth noting, a little spicier on the whole, but this is fine by me. I’m getting less and less affected by spice as the days go on!
I’m a serial re-​heater, mostly as I order for one, and for delivery end up with gargantuan amounts of food. As such, there are a few choice places whose chips always reheat well, and I remember these things. Sadly, New Ho isn’t one of them. That’s not to say when arrived fresh they’re no good-they’re great in fact –but just didn’t have the same zing after a turn in the oven. Perhaps as they’re not so chunky as other places.
Anyway, that’s a personal preference, so not on the whole useful unless you’re as mad as me. Regardless, they’re another hit on the list, and well worth a try. Yum!

As far as take aways go, you cannot get much better than New Ho Garden.
At a glance at the menu, you may think this place is slightly more expensive than some take aways, but this is because it’s really excellent, much better quality than any other Chinese take away around.
NHG is based in Horsforth but delivers to Headingley/​Hyde Park etc too.
The main thing for me to say about this place is that the vegetarian selection is outstanding, very well considered and best of all, SO TASTY!
My favourite items are:
Vegetarian Chicken Satay Skewers
Vegetarian Beef in Black Bean sauce
Salt and Pepper Chips (AMAZING, they have a kick)
I pretty much order these things every time!
I am assured by my carnivorous friends that the menu is equally amazing.
If you are fed up with sugar laden, msg soaked Chinese food then look no further, everything tastes fresh and delicious here.
The staff are super friendly both on the phone and on delivery, you can also order on Just Eat, which is handy when you have no cash but need a treat.

As usual I found this place due to a menu drop, living in Horsforth I seem to be inundated with menu’s for takeaways, usually the same one over and over again. So when this one came through my door I thought I would add it to all its friend in the kitchen draw and possibly give it a go someday. That day came quite quickly as we really fancied a takeaway the Friday after it arrived.
I was very pleased with the vegetarian selection on the menu and it took me a while to choose, after choosing and placing the order we were told it would take between half and hour and forty mins to be delivered. It arrived after about twenty mins and the delivery man was well presented and friendly.
The food was lovely and there was a lot of it, well worth the price; I would definitely order from Ho Garden again as all the vegetarian options sound interesting and if lasts nights was anything to go by then it will be a nice alternative to cooking on a Friday night.
