I used to be a fan of New Look. Some time ago, the majority of my clothing would have originated from there, and then it was like it took a turn for the fashion worse. There was a brief return, about a year ago when I came out of New Look with a few skirts(remember when horizontal lines on pencil skirts was a brief thing?) but since then I barely go in. I went in the other day for some fashion inspiration, having recently exhausted H&Ms options. I figured there must be something I liked. There were a few of those cool tees — with the folded sleeves — so I grabbed a few of those to purchase. I then spotted they were more expensive than H&M so put them back. I then tried on a smart-looking Chinese-style dress in navy and cream lace. On trying on, I realised the material wasn’t as good as I thought — it’s that stretchy lycra style stuff, rather than a stiff, flattering type of deal.(Essentially, I felt squeezed in and flubby.) The cut of their long, lumber jack shirts was odd — the shoulders were fine(although in a size I usually don’t take) but the hips just didn’t work. All in all, I tried about 10 items on and came away with nothing that I thought looked good. Perhaps it was a bad day on my part, or I’ve outgrown their style, or they’re just not that good any more. Staff were lovely, but no sale here. I liked the shoes, but had lost interest in them by the time I’d done trying things on!
