Fresh, wholesome and healthy food is what you’ll find here. It’s not expensive but can be a little dearer than a few chain stores, not naming and names. It’s no bad thing either. There’s a great selection of fruit and vegetables — vegetarians will love it here with the wide choice. It’s good to go and stock up on your winter veggies to stave off the dreaded colds doing the rounds…

One of the nice things about this part of town is that where a similar business unit in a student area would be filled with a Spar shop before you could say eight-cans-for-a-fiver, the presence of a more discerning culinary community ensures that shops selling decent, fresh fruit and vegetables are paramount. Paul’s Supersave is one such shop; it’s nothing spectacular in this area, but its wide choice of locally produced and more exotic fresh wares, plus good selection of tinned and packaged goods, will leave any foodie Hyde Park or Headingley-dweller green with envy. They look after their customers too, offering free delivery to those of pensionable age, which earns them some bonus points in my books.
