This place has the finest earl grey tea I have sampled in Leeds its truly divine. For an affordable lunch I tend to get a salad plate with sliced meats and cous cous with salad, extremely tasty and very healthy option compared to the fast food establishments that litter the streets of Leeds. Great place for dieters if you keep away from the cakes.

Oh passers by, I know how jealous you are as you wander past my delightful caramelised raspberry and white chocolate flapjack and frothy cappucino. I can tell by the way your walk slows as you pass, almost considering stopping by, but then you dutifully rush off to where ever it is you need to be. Nothing is more important that taking five minutes to purchase one the P&P delights of the day.(This is what I’ve dubbed them.) For just those extra few calories is a personal moment of heavenly taste and sweet sugary satisfaction. I am probably a borderline brownie addict by now. It’s almost as if I can’t actually go anywhere in Headingley without having to nip in. I see it. I want it. It must be done. Hello. I’m Rowena and I’m a cake-aholic. I’ve been addicted to them for, oh, over a year now? Anyway. Jokes aside the P&P café in Headingley is just the business. Wifi, great coffee, beautifully made cake and some of the nicest staff you could hope for. They’ve a £2 simply sandwich deal, which is cheaper than anywhere else in Headingley I believe, and an awesome set of meal deals for take out. What more could you want? Locally sourced items? Check. Free range eggs? Check. Have a guilt-free, taste filled, heaven sent afternoon indulgence here. You know it makes sense.

Who loves porridge?! I LOVEPORRIDGE?! … yeah I know I’m a grandma, but Pickles and Potter takes porridge from grandma level to one of kick ass proportions with their toppings: Jam, Honey, Granola, Crasins, Seeds, etc. and what do I do? PUTITALLIN!!! Most places only limit you to a couple of toppings until they start charging you extra for a little bit of the good stuff, but P&P gives it all in there for no extra charge. HIGHFIVE P&P!!! YOUKNOWWHAT I LIKE! WHATELSEDOESKARMLIKE? COFFEE!!! … and What do all their coffee drinks come with?! A taster/teaser sample of their damn good brownie… OMG that brownie. and of course after you put that ½ bite sample in your mouth… you’re gonna want to get one… damn they’re sneaky with that stuff… LUCKLY they have a deal where you can get coffee/tea and a brownie/slice of awesome cake for only £3. DOUBLEHIGHFIVE P&P! The room is pretty cozy too, esp when it’s raining… which is often. the room has an organic feel that will even make anyone sitting there feel organic themselves. PLUS free wi-fi… their password is right up there on the chalkboard. why not 5 stars? They’re really known for their sandwiches and their brownies… I’ve tried the brownies, but have yet to try them sandwiches or their jacket potatoes… maybe that will bump it up to 5 stars next time I go.

Being used to queuing for a takeaway and considering myself blessed to actually get a table in the city centre branch of this deli/café, I was surprised to find I only had to share the Headingley branch with one other table when I visited, despite it being 2 in the afternoon. On reflection, however, it makes sense; the crowds that fill the town centre shop are shoppers, families and ladies who lunch, people on the whole less likely to be concerned about penny pinching than Headingley’s predominantly student population, to whom the £4 and up sandwich prices could keep them in cider for, oh, at least another hour or so. No complaints here though; I enjoyed the novelty of being able to eat the same delicious sandwiches and cakes without the hectic atmosphere and battle for seats. The décor feels a little more utilitarian than the city centre branch, preferring canteen like tables over the latter’s cosy hotchpotch of furniture, which gives the whole place an overall more trendy feel presumably designed to fit in with its new target audience. I reckon this place will get busier once people realise it’s worth the extra cash, so visit now while you still can.

Award-winning chocolate brownies, 100’s of combination’s of fresh organic sandwiches and bohemian, quaint décor. Pickles and Potter has created a perfect tea room formula which proves to be a hit with residence in Leeds, particularly the students. Pickles and Potter is a tiny tea room(which works in it’s favor, creating a homely, cosey vibe), perfect for lunch, afternoon tea or a healthy afternoon snack. Everything about the café offers a «natural» aura, right down to samples of organic moistursers in the toilets. The bohemian, friendly feel is matched by the staff who are extremely pleasant. Pickles and Potter is a refreshing break from Starbucks and Costa with it’s hand-painted menu boards and free tasters of homemade cakes. The café also differs from the high street with it’s healthy, fresh food menu. Sandwhich filling include organic piri piri chicken, handmade chutneys and rare roast beef. AND as if it couldn’t get any better… they will make whatever meal you want to order there and then.(both salads and sandwiches) Personally I love Pickles and Potter and look forward to coffee with the girls there at the weekend! The only downside is that if you want to sit outside(on the rare occasion of a nice day), you are literally placed on the pavement which isn’t very pleasant during rush-hour! Head there now!!! Enjoy afternoon tea, homemade cake and a large tea/coffee for only £3. Perfect!

I LOVE this place! I’ve been to the original in the Queens Arcade a few times — so it’s great to have one up here. As always the food is fresh and fabulous, the cakes delicious and the staff helpful, but what blew me away was the coffee! Blended in Leeds by a company called Just Coffee People(who are a social enterprise apparently!)it’s a great espresso roast and makes a perfect coffee. I bought some to take home! I’m heading back to try their Weekend Breakfast special … watch this space!

I’ve never visited the one in Leeds City Centre, so didn’t have much to compare the new P&P with. I visited on a Saturday lunchtime and the place was fairly busy. I was over awed with the amount of choice on offer and on walking in wasn’t left with much time to work out the whole build your own sandwich thing before the staff pounced on me. I opted for a beef and stilton sandwich from the fridge which was delicious. I can’t fault the food, the sandwich really was one of the best I’ve tasted. The only criticism would be that the staff could have bene a bit more helpful, byt explaining the concept. And maybe helping me out as I juggled sandiwch, purse and drink when the counter was too cluttered to put it down. Overall though I’d definitely go back.

Lovely new pickles and potter deli/café just next to Dare in Headingley. Chocolate brownies to die for, fresh coffee, friendly staff, great range of food for vegans, veggies and everyone. A couple of comfy chairs right by the window as well as the normal kind of café tables.
