I like this Pizza Express. It is the original one in Leeds and it has stuck it out while all the other restaurants around it have changed hands a few times. The food is what you expect with a variety of choices and always a few offers available of voucher cloud or whatever offer website you use. Location is perfect for a bar crawl after eating or just a light night out. Staff have always been lovely on my many visits over the years. And the décor is suited to what you want — an open area or corners to hide in. The open kitchen is almost torture when your hungry thinking every plated up meal is yours. I would highly recommend this place.

Was recently in Pizza Express with my friend on the offchance there would be a table for two going handy. Only spent half a minute waiting before we were shown to a table by the friendly waiter. What I love about Pizza Express is that I’ve never felt rushed to choose something from the menu. I get some weird ‘stagefright’ when I have to choose something which I can imagine is very frustrating when you’re the other person waiting to order. Maybe it’s because there’s not a huge sprawling menu to get bewildered by — ‘would you like pizza, pizza or pizza?’ should be the tagline. We both ordered a Padana Romana pizza each, which I know sounds a bit piggy but considering how thin the pizza bases are, it’s not too bad. Toppings were goats cheese, caramel chutney(also known as YUMTOWN) mozzarella, spinach and garlic oil. The base was a bit hard to slice as it’s got the consistency of a well-done pancake so I had to take to twirling it around my fork like spaghetti which must’ve looked a bit odd. Wine’s expensive in here — a large glass of house rose wine was over £5. Maybe this is standard, I’m not sure, it just made me do a little ‘eek!’ when I saw the bill. Certainly reinforced the lesson of having a drink before /after going to a restaurant. The bill came to £32 without tip. Not too expensive but not exactly value for money either. We left a £4 tip though as the waiter Kamil was really nice. As far as Pizza Expresses go, this is probably one of the better ones you’ll find in Leeds. Wouldn’t rule out coming back, but only if they had a special on that’s a bit easier on the wallet.

You know where you are with Pizza Express. Reasonably priced pizza featuring reasonable quality ingredients. Nothing is innovative but that does not mean that the food is not tasty. I am a particular fan of the new-ish Romana pizza range which is that bit crispier than the standard pizza. This branch is much the same as all the others with the sole criticism that service is on the slow side. All the staff seemed to be more interested in packing up than serving me!

I’ve been wanting to go to Pizza Express for ages, but something had always stopped me whenever i’d planned to go, from not having a reservation to the place being closed during the week of the riots. On possibly my fifth attempt to eat there, I finally got to eat there this Saturday. The waiting time for the table wasn’t bad at around 15 minutes, considering there were six of us and we’d not booked a table again, and it was 8pm on a Saturday night. We got sat down on a nice round table and our orders were taken very quickly. The menu seems great, I was spoilt for choice. I went for the Pollo ad Astra Leggera. It was delicious, with little spicy and sweet peppers, also the base was really thin and crispy which meant that for the first time in my life I could finish a whole pizza, without having to leave half of the crusts. My friend’s lasagne was amazing too, I pinched some. The only thing I think I could really criticize this place on is the drinks available, they don’t have a lot of beer or cider to choose from, and they seemed really quite expensive since they weren’t that exciting. The tiny puddings with a coffee are brilliant. I usually find it hard to decide between a coffee and a pudding, but I could have both! Win! Also it only costs an extra £1 for a liqueur coffee, so I enjoyed that as well. Our waiter was very friendly and we couldn’t fault the service at all. The food is ace, and the atmosphere is lovely. It looks amazing, and I like how there’s a train going past the window every two seconds. I really enjoyed it.

Now my friends who doesn’t love a good pizza. You know it makes sense. Go with the power of the cheese, it’s calling you. So when I want a good pizza guaranteed and a good dining experience to boot, then I head down to the Pizza Express near the Corn Exchange. So you should know by now what you get at this quite excellent and big chain. Succulent pizza, mouth watering pastas and divine dough balls. It’s all here. Fresh ingredients, ever changing menus and a fantastic wine selection. Job done. Now I especially like this Pizza Express for several reasons. Firstly, the venue is class. Big expansive ceilings, stone flooring and lots and lots of space. Even on Saturday nights, you won’t wait an age to get a table. Add to that the five star service. All the waiters are friendly and more importantly they are quick and proficient. You’ll be in and out as quickly as you want to be. The only minor side is the lack of space to wait if it is busy and the lack of an ability to have a quick drink whilst you count down those minutes to feasting time. Maybe they just didn’t want to serve me because I’m a dodgy looking character? Anyway, that aside it has to be one of my favourite pre Saturday night out eating haunts.

We came here pretty late last night, as the other one the other side of town was completely rammed and people were queuing outside to get in, and it was frankly too cold for that, and I had new shoes on and couldn’t stay stood up for that long. So, it was about 9ish I think when we got here, and despite it being busy, we got a table straight away. The service was slower than I’d usually have liked, but it was actually refreshing that it was a bit more laid back. We weren’t in any rush, so it resulted in a nice, relaxing evening. What I was really impressed with was that when I asked for the bill, the waiter asked me whether I had any vouchers to use, which was awesome as it took away that whole embarrassing ‘hello, yes, I’m a bit tight, please can I use this voucher, don’t tell anyone I’m poor’ moment that I absolutely loathe. Well done Pizza Express waiter dude. The marinated olives were delish, and the mains were equally as tasty. I had the Bosco salad(all ingredients I adore — avocado, mozzarella, garlic mushrooms, rocket and that), and Hot Steve had an American pizza. I was very good and had a machiatto instead of a pudding, although Steve had one of those toffee fudge concoctions and the waitress very cleverly brought two spoons touches like that make a difference, and that’s why I’ll come back again. I don’t know why it’s been so long since I’ve been to Pizza Express, but I think it’ll be something I do regularly now. PS Two Peroni, a bottle of San Pellegrino, and all the above came to £25.00 on the nose with one of those 2−4−1 mains vouchers. Cheaper than Steak n Chicken Tuesdays end up at the Arc :)

I always find such great offers with Pizza Express so find myself frequenting this restaurant far too often. Wednesday nights if you’re on Orange are great as you can get 2−4−1 pizza deals and then pop along to the cinema for the same deal, what a perfect night! Although I’ve never been to a horrible Pizza Express, this particular restaurant I find to be a very nice place to dine. It’s situated just behind the Corn Exchange, which makes it the perfect location for a bite to eat before you hit the bars on Call Lane. It also makes it good for a spot of lunch during a spending spree in Victoria Quarter. The inside is very nicely decorated and is very open which gives it a great feel. As always the staff are very friendly and are good at helping you with choices and altering ingredients in a meal. I only ever have pizza when I come here and they are fantastic, a bit small but you don’t really need more as they are full of rich ingredients and are a healthy option to your dominos, its just me being a bit greedy and wanting more I think. The menu is a typical menu for a chain restaurant and prices are around £10 per head. I felt the need to review this particular one as its just such a great location and I always have a nice dinner with the girls whilst I’m there.
