Fantastic traditional pub, all Samuel Smith ales. Currently being painstakingly restored to its original glory, but still open for business in the meantime.

This should be a really good pub with good handpulled ales.
In reality it is looking very tired and run down, and the handpulled ale seems to have gone. Externally the building looks as though it is about to fall down and the roof is covered with scaffolding, which has been there for years. If it was sorted out I’m sure it could become a very popular pub.
I understand that planning permission has recently been granted for refurbishment and an extension, so hopefully that will sort things out
