Seven is an independent, non profit arts space. It has an in-house cinema/theatre and shows a great range of film and shows. It is perhaps best known for its jazz club, a great way to chill out on a sunday afternoon. It has a lovely chilled feeling whether you have popped in for coffee and cake during the day or a more substantial meal and a glass of wine. A nice range of wine and some good bottled beer. Also one of the few places to stock oranjeboom(hubbys fave) It holds lots of classes from dance for toddlers, drama for the over 50’s, poetry writing and yoga. It really is a great community space.

I really like the vibe in Seven Arts. It’s as cosy and lovely as it ever was when it first opened, and I’ve since been back so many times for so many things. The last show I saw was a piece about the idea of a suicide clinic, with darkly comedic results. The show was not only good, but the space where these plays are performed is intimate, comfortable, and makes for a fab little theatre — good for film screenings, gigs, and theatre. The bar boasts a really great range of ales, continental lagers, and many snacks — which I’ve not tried in recent times, but it seems like a good menu. They also have free wifi, which was the biggest boon, as I was able to enjoy a few beers with friends whilst browsing on the old laptop. Lovely! Staff have always been fantastic, and it’s a brilliant spot in the heart of Chapel A. Fantastic place.

Nice spot any time of the day or week. Chilled with plenty going on. They have a back room which can be a cinema, jazz show, comedy night etc… They do good hot drinks but equally have a mixture of drinky drinks too. Big tables which would be good for board games and sofas which are cosy for relaxing. A nice hang out or start to a night out.

Just been to the monthly ‘Killfor a seat’ Comedy at & arts. always a good show, top of the range comedy in Leeds. The Host and Compere ‘Silky’ aways makes it feel like the show is just for you, Picks the best of touring comedy, and new acts, occasionally runs over, so if you’re on the bus, make sure you have the taxi fare home. If you go there you know you’ll get quality comedy, not for the faint hearted. And of course 7 Arts is a cracking venue with good beer. so what’s not to like.

This place is just so lovely! Me and my partner have recently been coming here on the weekends in the daytime with our laptop to plan our future travels and eat some lunch. The food is always delicious yet affordable and they have a good selection of veggie treats, when i was on a vegan diet they rustled me up something especially, with no problem. During the week they have events on in a separate room, such as plays, films, jazz nights and quiz’s. there’s always something going on yet then there’s always an option to have a break and go sit and chat in the main café/bar for a bit it’s just such a warm, vibrant, atmospheric and friendly place. Always got a buzz, always something going on and family friendly too!

We came to Chapel Allerton looking for lunch and cake at the Sunshine bakery. Alas, they do not have high chairs there so we had to move on. But what a stroke of luck to have this place so near: spacious, high chairs, great food, reasonably priced. There was also a programme of upcoming arts events on the board. It seems they do something different every night so if you live near here you should definitely check it out to get some culture into your lives(that is if you don’t already have enough).

Lovely, cosy, tasty, not pricey. Cupcakes and biscuits at the bar, fun atmosphere, child friendly during the day and a buzzing place to be at night. Dedicated arts space also, and my favourite haunt in Chapel A. Simply a wonderful place.

Seven is an independent arts space. That’s how it sells itself, but to do that almost sells itself short. Named after it’s LS7 postcode, Seven really does do the Chapel Allerton area proud. A relatively new venture in the way of artistic spaces and venues, but it is pretty damn good. It’s constantly gaining momentum, and currently there are projects going a ahead for budding film makers, artists, musicians and creative types. Seven relies on funding and sponsorship, which is good news for the local business who wish to hire out rooms for conferences and business meetings, as all money generated from the room hires goes back in to funding more arts projects. Seven also has it’s own bar, Bar Seven, which is a cool place to spend before a show, or just to go in and have a drink with some friends, as it’s open from mid morning til midnight. Oh yes, the events, there are many to choose from, acoustic nights, plays, comedy nights, art exhibitions, workshops and being super festive there’s a Valentine’s night this Sunday, with a Buenos Aires, film set, dinner and dance spectacle vibe, with tickets at £20 a head. Housing about 100 in capacity, Seven offers an intimate setting which can be a welcome change from bigger venues, especially for plays and acoustic performances. And there’s the added satisfaction that your money is going back into the production of more fabulous art events.

Hosting a range of arts events from spoken word, art house films and cabaret this intimate venue puts on a great show in a fantastic environment and adding more cultural activities to the list of things to do in Leeds. On top of this you can wine and dine friends or partners for not too bad a price or use the bar as your local with that warming feeling and excitable buzz that a pub quiz brings tarted up with a bit of jazz on Sundays.

As if to seal Chapel Allerton’s reputation as a stylish, up and coming neighbourhood, the Seven Arts Centre opened two years ago as an independent arts space, its 100 capacity venue playing host to a variety of music, film, theatre, dance and spoken word. The programme tends to lean towards the fashionable, with a focus on things like jazz and arthouse films, and there’s a trendy café/bar that plays host to some fun social events like pub quizzes and ‘food dating’ where you talk to a different person for each course. I’ve been here a few times and found it a good, intimate venue for a performance, although probably more suited to film and spoken word than any large-scale theatre or dance, and the bar is a relaxed and friendly place to hang out. I know quite a few people who live in the area for whom the bar at Seven Arts is their hang out of choice, and it’s easy to see why. A good place to escape the wining and dining masses and inject a little culture into your evening.

I love the way this place is subtle and understated from the road. The floor to ceiling windows create an inviting feeling, as tho you are already there come on in :) The leafy street shelters you from the road. The staff are friendly and pleasing on the eye. Am I allowed to say that?! Good selection of continental beers and great food menu. Food is served until 9pm. The tables are solid and the long tables are actually great for getting people talking, but if you’re deep in conversation, you can let the ambient background sweep over you. The food is modern, homely and tasty. Prices are around £8−10 for a main meal and smaller things for about £4−5. Fairly priced. There is a big room adjacent to the bar, hidden behind a door you don’t even notice until it’s opened to reveal a dark, intriguing space. This is were they have bands, singers, poetry reading, cultural discussions and Monday night film showings. Such a versatile space. You get a different feeling from this place everytime you go. Great for reading the paper on a lazy Saturday morning :)

Seven is a great addition to Chapel Allerton. Its a lot different to the rest of the bars and cafes and all the better for it. The bar /café has a great selection of drinks, ales being my favorite. The food is always really spot on, especially the home made cakes. There is so much going on at the centre its hard to list it all here. They put on comedy nights, film nights, music, theatre and much more. With all this going on I sometimes just like to go in at the weekend and a have drink and read the paper.

Cracking bar, restaurant, café and arts centre in leafy Chapel A — LS7 Heaven as the locals call it, er, I think. My good friend Penny, a stalwart of the local arts scene and organiser of the renowned Chapel Allerton Arts Festival, the urban Glastonbury, took the plunge a couple of years ago and set up this place. And now, no one can chuck her out of the bar, because it’s her bar. There’s a regular calendar of arty events, but if you’re just there for the bitter and chat, you won’t be disappointed either.

Now before I start I have to say this is the first place I’ve visited off the back of Qype reviews and boy did you people do good! Really cool little place, went on a Sunday to the Jazz — saw ‘Misinterprotato’ — Sean Foran, Joost Hendrickx and Rus Pearson — they where really good! The staff were brilliant from the guy who took our money, £3! — how incredibly cheep! to the girl behind the bar, who even gave us suggestions of other place to try. This place is really friendly and inviting, you can tell by the clientele — old guys with their beer to families with children, there was even an baby in the audience! Food was delicious — we had a soup each and a Welsh rabit to share — the rabit was huge! All decently priced. They even let you eat in the hall where the Jazz is. After it had finished we stayed on in the bar/restaurant area and had a coffee. Was truly a lovely afternoon. Pity we don’t live nearer! PS the £3 also enters you into a raffle to win a bottle of wine!

I don’t live in leeds anymore but every time I visit I go here. Arts centre that has been open since July with events on nearly every night including theatre, cinema and jazz. Bar area that acts as restaurant, bar and café and does all of them well. Amazing food at very reasonable prices all day long. Went to watch the jazz(Dudley Nesbitt) on Sunday, it was brilliant. Stayed all day sampling wines and dishes from the menu. The best way to spend a Sunday. Pay a visit and soon.
