Nice place, great service BUT didnt like the food. Onion Bahji was greasy, the chicken in the chicken tikka masala was very dry. However their Lamb Bhuna was descent as well as the rice and Naan. Would not go back though.

So far this is the best Indian I have found in Leeds. The interior is classic Indian style and has full length mirrors on one wall which makes you think it’s bigger than it is. The food was absolutely spot on, and the service was excellent. I’m usually quite picky, but the only fault I could find was that the menus could do with a bit of a clean as it looked like someone had left part of their meal over mine.

When with a gift voucher from a friend… tried booking 3 times and as soon as i said we had a voucher got told they were busy. went in in person and was told the same even thought it was totally empty. on complaining we were told by the manager ‘we don’t care about your custom we have enough’ they wouldn’t let us cash in our voucher and turned us away. horrible! Needless to say the voucher is now expired, so they had the money but we never got a curry. With customer services like this i would NEVER recommend this place! Changing term and conditions after point of sale very very very very bad Business!

I was up North from down South and am not easily impressed with Curry houses having worked in East London for a long time. This place was a revelation. To get the bad things out the way, firstly the entrance up some stairs is not very inviting, and the bathrooms are up another set of stairs, so not very suitable for disabled or elderly. If you arnt into the traditional British curry house décor you will find this place tacky. But if you want a curry house experience then this provides it. Lots of velvet, funky curry house music, well dressed friendly staff etc. Its exactly what you expect and is done well. Now the most important bit the food. It is quite simply the best curry I have ever eaten. I went with a group of friends and we all agreed. The nan breads were brilliant, the currys were each very distinctive and tasty, not over powered with one flavour. The place was packed so it can’t just be us having good food their. The manager left us as long as he could but then had to ask us to free up the table for more guests. All very poliet. Such a great place. To my southern pocket the place was a bargin, my Northern buddies thought it was reasonable but not cheap. In summary the best curry I have ever had and it is the food that counts, so get over your desire for minimalist surroundings and spacious bathrooms and go have a great curry at this place. I sound like an advert but it really was that good.

Shabab is a great Indian Restaurant, even if you’re not big on Curries or don’t like your food too spicy & hot. I went just before Christmas and had a Chicken, Cauliflower & Ginger Balti(mild) It was delicious. My friend had Chicken Madras(more adventurous than me) and his was equally good. Will definately be going again. Soon !!

I agree with Reeny! Shabab’s is how an indian restaurant should look, with jingly bells on the chairs and shiny menus and velvet everywhere.

If you’re a fan of the more traditional curry houses then this is the place for you. Its decked out with gold elephants and flock wallpaper which to me is what a curry house should be about, not these shiny fancy ones that have popped up in recent years. They also do an all you can eat deal which is great if you love stuffing yourself with curry and lager and you get to try loads of different dishes to boot.
