ShuffleDog is a BrewDog bar by any other name. Though quite nice they are getting a very franchised feel to them. This Leeds location does benefit from the really nive space they have with large windows wrapping around the entire bar with booth style seating against the windows. There’s a nice big ¾ wrap around bar so it’s easy to get served and they’ve stuck to the fairly tried and tested décor choices of rough wood floors, exposed industrial ducting and edison bulbs They have the large white american cinema style beer list which I’ve seen appearing in all BrewDogs. It does work well as it’s very clear and you can make out the list from pretty much anywhere in the bar. The unique feature as the name suggests is 3 large shuffleboards in a basement room downstairs which you can hire out to play on. We didn’t get a chance to do this but it looks like fun and seems to draw a crowd to play and to watch. To be honest I didn’t notice if they do food. But I’d almost guarantee they do and it’s a mix of burgers and fried chicken.

I had a really good time here. Now, qualifier. It was totally empty. Perhaps because of the time of day, perhaps beacuse its so new, i don’t know. But, as can be the way when you’ve a bar to yourself. We had a lot of fun. Staff were friendly and getting drinks was easy. There is a huge range of beers to choose from. We sampled a fair few, from expensive to cheap, from strong to seriously weak. They told us they didn’t have their full menu up, which was initially disappointing, before we saw the size and quality of the bar snacks. The ladies behind the bar control the music and did a bang up job of it all evening. When we’d had enough food and beer and music we went downstairs and had a couple of rounds of shuffleboard. Think Curling but on sand instead of ice(and no broomsticks). You have to book a table, your turn will last 15 minutes which is plenty for even four players. It also means if it’s busy you’ve not too long to wait. There’s a bar downstairs as well so you can hang out near the tables waiting for your turn and cheering on the other players. The shuffleboards are great fun and a cool way to spend an evening. The food and drink is good and i enjoyed the atmosphere. It could well be even better when its full. And given its so close to the side of town i love the most i’m sure i’ll be going back plenty.
