Sehr gutes Thailändisches Essen und guter Service. Von außen sieht das Lokal nicht so gut aus, Dekoration ist Geschmacksache. Aber das Essen ist genial.

My favourite Thai food in the world! The service is amazing, and the Pad Thai is phenomenal. The atmosphere is relaxing and friendly. The only negative thing I can say about the place is that it can be a tad warm when eating in. But they do take away too!

Right, a really quick one.(And I mean that this time.) As well as all of the below wordlings on how lush this place is, this is the added extra in Thai Sabai goodness: — Check in offer on the Unilocal app.(BOOM!) — Now do delivery for a quid fiddy.(EXTRABOOM!) My Thai Green Curry was as awesome as it’s ever been. Masses of rice. And the guys that run the place are just lovely. DOITHEADINGLEY!

We recently went here on a midweek dinner to try something new. Of course it was a horrendous journey into Headingley, what with the usual traffic and pouring rain, but on balance it was worth it. It is a cosy small restaurant, which doesn’t feel crowded even when it is busy. I ordered the fish cakes, which were crispy and nicely spiced without being too big a portion and the gung pow, king prawns with garlic and black pepper. Unfortunately the prawns were shell on. I’m sure there is a great reason for leaving the shells on, but I really do not like trying to peel prawns with blisteringly hot shells. Once I had prised the prawns free, however, they were delicious. The service was also very good and I will definitely return.

There a few Thai restaurants around Headingley(Sukhothai and Jinos) but Thai Sabai really stands out as being the best for me. Inside it is small, warm, cosy and welcoming. The staff are wonderfully attentive without being intrusive. The décor feels authentic, and it seems to be a more expensive restaurant than it really is! The early bird menu is outstanding value for money(as Rowena mentions you leave feeling like you have robbed them) and it and works well as a taster menu if you’re new to the restaurant, or new to Thai cuisine. The main menu is extensive, and as ever important to me, great for vegetarians with plenty of tofu and vegetable options. I often visit here for the early bird menu as an affordable treat, but even the main menu is great value for money. My favourites are the hot & sour soup with mushroom flavoured with coconut milk and herbs for starters and the spicy prawn crackers… delicious! I cannot choose a favourite from the main courses, I am still working my way through the menu!

We called in for a cheap pre-cinema dinner, and that’s what we got, the early bird at £10.95(2 courses + a drink) is great value, though choice is limited and a little uninspiring. The food was good, tasty fishcakes with a dipping sauce, my main portion was very small(steamed white fish). I don’t normally do dessert, but was still feeling hungry, unfortunatley the cherry and almond cheesecake had sold out, so kulfi it was. All in all a good experience, nice place, decent Thai fare at a good price, but nothing out of the ordinary, maybe I need to try something from the menu next time.

«I don’t like Thai». That’s what my boyfriend said 12 months ago when I suggested possibly trying something other than Nandos, KFC or one of the everso slightly grotty Chinese takeaways in Hyde Park. Well he obviously had never had Thai Sabai! Now he just can’t get enough. Every single weekend he’s desperate for a number 20 and a number 36. Luckily, my friends all love it too so I’ve had plenty of opportunity to venture beyond his staple dishes — event attempting the jungle curry — VERYHOT! I never imagined I would find somewhere in the student centre of Headingley, that would take me back to my travelling days — but this cosy family run restaurant oozes with all the authenticity of a backpackers retreat on Koh Tao. The prices are slightly higher — but at least you can leave your shoes on! The restaurant offers a great early bird menu, with two courses for £7.95 before 7pm and if you can’t bear to drag yourself away from the World Cup — you can get takeaway! No excuses!

Sabai is a brilliant Thai restaurant which more than holds its own on a street filled with Eastern cuisine. Small but intimate rather than overcrowded inside, this restaurant is simply top notch in every aspect — the service is quite and pleasant, the atmosphere is relaxed, the wines are fantastic, and the food… To lovers of Thai food(rather than casual eaters like me) this place will not disappoint — the menu seems authentic, yet inventive(duck curry?) and the flavour combinations in every bite I had were flawless. They highlight for me was the starter — the best Thai fish-cakes I have ever eaten — rather than the main(although the main was gorgeous too). The prices in the restaurant are inexpensive, especially considering the quality of the food(starters are around £4-£5 and mains £9−10), meaning that there is no area of Thai Sabai that can be faulted. It has to get five stars. And the name rhymes!
