top notch Yorkshire pud with sausage, chips and gravy. Perfect Friday fair for setting ones stomach up for a booze bashing. As I am not going out tonight, I intend to jsut sit here in my office in a content food bubble. only lost a star as I prefer the chips out of the gravy!

A lovely, proper, pub! Food has nearly always been top notch, although the specials board seems to have went downhill. It also has a good beer garden for those few days when the sun does come out

Good range of ales, found with the Unilocal app whilst in horsforth, forgot to say, I got some sort of points for checking in but not sure what to do with them as I’d left by the time I had a signal to check in with.

Well, this place is just down the road from me but none of us had ever been so we thought we’d give it a go. I decided to make it part of a «Fitness routine» by walking there and having the wife meet me there after she finished work. Being a lover of cask ales I was pleased to see they had some and one I am very fond of as it makes me very wobbly after 4 pints lol. All was good on this occasion, I like the 50p a game Pool table(tight fisted Yorkshireman again) and the beer garden is amazing for where it is. A few days later we went back with the in laws for some grub and this is where it all went wrong… the food was awful! The beer I’d enjoyed a few days before was now resembling ditch water(I hope that’s not an actual beer, probably is lol) and was cloudy and stale. The 4 of us all had something different and all 4 of us were very disappointed, my burger was like eating a coal sandwich(yes I’ve had a few BBQ’s gone wrong) The Scampi was small pieces of empty breadcrumb shells, chips had no actual potato inside and don’t even ask about the pie but a drill and a chisel would of been handy! Maybe we caught them on a bad day but there was no one else eating and it was tea time(Evening meal, in case theirs any southerners reading… JK) which I think speaks volumes. The food prices were average but the food was almost inedible and they don’t seem to be able to keep the cask ales very well. My tip is if your a fan of CAMRA avoid this place, if you drink lager tops then you’re probably ok.

The Bridge is an unusual place, situated just about as far from anywhere else you might want to be as it can(unless you party people have got any particular inclinations toward the shell garage at the Hawksworth exit off the ring-road). «But Matt» you say with an air of absolute admiration«you are a studly vision of manliness, living at the very cutting edge of cool. There must be a reason that you went there.» Yes you are quite right and there was(but I’m not telling) I seem to have distracted myself. The Bridge is about as traditional as English pubs can get; from the Locally brewed ales in the taps to the beer garden that always seems to have a few broken toys lying around. In short it has that family run vibe running through it. In fact on my last visit a small child even took payment for my drinks and collected my bar snacks for me whilst a token responsible adult did all the drinks pouring. It was very quaint and jolly. The bar staff are very friendly and chatty, as are the regulars. I haven’t tried the food but I’m told that it is very good. If you fancy a slice of madness they have their own rather unique take on the pub quiz… A BINGOQUIZ! these words don’t necessarily seem to make sense in that order but it is a fun way to stop the same team winning every week(and yes I’m looking at you«Chemic Tavern»). Each team has a differently printed answer sheet with spaces for said answers written in a random order. at the end the real answers are read out in the sequence decided by bingo balls then prizes are given for 4 corners, a line and 2 lines. so in theory you could get a prize even if all you got were 4 questions right(with a bit of luck). oh and there is also a pool table and dart board. So as I said, if you find yourself nearby and fancy a traditional local pint in a traditional local pub, whilst possibly playing some traditional local games… you could do a lot worse than The Bridge Inn.

great traditional family friendly pub which the building is over 200 years old, really friendly staff and excellent food, great atmosphere, has won many«Leeds in bloom» awards, a wide varity of drinks to choose from, pool table, juke box, sky tv, they have recently bought a 3DTV, nice outdoor seating area with patio as well, quiz 2 nights a week thursday and sundays i think. would be better if they could have the fire burning during the winter as an open fire place does make it feel more cosey and unfortunatly they do not sell newcastle brown =[ would highly recommend this pub

Unfortunately, I prefer this pub from the outside rather than the inside. A really attractive whitewashed building that is over a hundred years old, it always has hanging flower baskets showing off an array of award winning flower arrangements. The exterior is so attractive that you think to yourself ‘I should have a pint in there’. And then one day you do have a pint in there, and it’s a rather flat lager, and a rather flat atmosphere, with staff who are nice enough but a group of grumpy middle aged-guys who should be at work, not the pub. And you leave after one pint, admiring the exterior again on your way out and wishing you’d just stayed outside for the last twenty minutes.
